The color scheme that I wish the X came in! (reminds me of my 2kxl back in the day)

And I just picked my X up not that long ago too... oh well.

Maybe akai will sell the faceplates? (I know it's highly doubtful, but one can hope!)

I can almost see where akai is going with this.
1) Make an incremental update with the same cpu and bumped up ram
2) pack mpc soft 3 w it
3) maybe introduce a feature on mpc soft that many people were asking about. (track sequencer?)
4) charge $200 the people on legacy mpcs to use it.

Cashflow guaranteed with mostly software development andd minimal hardware research and retooling that costs way too much.

BUT, have you compared the button layout with the current X?
Are you falling for a retro faceplate pic? Is it real? Need for attention?
What?

:?

I don’t have any insider info  but the post also contain the paperwork that goes with it. So it has the same 4Gb board as the MPC KEY 61 and from the paperwork, it looks like it should have been released before the MPC Key. I’m guessing Akai wanted to get in the keyboard market first, who knows. Was just posted since I saw it but i[m kinda disappointed to be honest. I expected better and not just a color and internal board change.

A little sour myself tbh. I bought my X early December. Well after the keys release.

it's basically a MPC X Retro with a more ram, not really a new MPC imo.

from a design perspective, these retro editions look like half baked products, with no effort at all. black knobs, black screws on the top panel, black painted backside like on the x...

these little to no changes makes me assume, that the X wasn't selling loads of units, so they didn't really mess with it at all and just replaced the cpu board for the sake of keeping the product alive.

good news for all the MPC X owners. no need for jumping on to the next...

Must admit that if it's legit (which it does look) then I'm a little underwhelmed :(

With the black knobs, black oled screen cutouts and front input section it looks like a skin. They really should have used grey knobs and I'm also torn on using the old AKAI logo. I do like the old logo but actually prefer the new one as it looks neater to my designers eye :)

I suppose they have renamed some of the buttons to make it better for the latest software versions but overall it's basically an X painted grey with a bit more RAM!

The one thing that makes me wonder if it is real are those screen holder things on the back. If they are as solid as they look then how does the screen tilt back, which it does as it has the flip stand there?

Guess we'll see soon.....

Hell yea, this rules. I just bought a used mpc x and had to go repairs on it, thinking about selling. and was worried it's resale value was gonna tank. Looks like I don't have to worry too much! Maybe I'll get a retro skin to appease my FOMO for this one tho.

Unless it has 4-8x processing power, it's not worth it.

I've enjoyed my 2 months with the MPC Live, but that CPU costs about $5-10. I'd happily pay an extra $100 for a more powerful CPU.

I don’t want you think I was coming at you, I wasn’t, not at all.
I was just wanting more than a faceplate change and 4gb ram. I am all about getting an XL but, that just can’t be IT. Color, ram, screen support (And yes, support for the screen is needed because sometimes the large screen acts like a newborn baby head, too big and it’s neck muscles aren’t developed, it just lays back down when my sub is hitting too hard in the room?!

doesn't look like a surprising upgrade... I think we could have all predicted 4gb... but I don't see that knocking anybody's socks off.

given that X prices are looking to be falling again... definitely a good time to get into an X. I do miss the 16 q-links and the big screen on the X (sold mine about 3 years ago)... will have to *really* consider if the XL is what I was thinking about getting back into... or just stick with the Live mk2/Force... which honestly have been treating me well for some time now.

Geez My pockets are safe. Ill just be looking to snipe a X if they drop to $700 used. Live is good.

It seems there is a Net Port on it? I have a LIVE 2 Retro and it has a net port on it Ive never used it. What is it good for? :hmmm:

Maybe with the update there will be a " Classic" mode that makes the screen Low resolution, Black and white and disables to touch screen so you'll forced to use cursor buttons and knobs like the old days.

I think your on to something here... I just fear that they will try to hit us pre-Keys61 models with the "Planned Obsolesce" Hammer on the dl.

It is the exact same processor.. only ram is different. At most we won't get to use as many plug ins.
