Select Pad without trigger Sound

Hello, how can I select a Pad in a Drum Program without it playing a Sound?
The only thing I could find so far is: Hold Shift and press the Pad.
Unfortunately this doesn't work!
I've tried all possible key combinations with no success.

Step sequencer Hold shift and hit pad is the only way I can think of

It's not the easiest way, but it works like this.

Press twice and hold the Erase button + pad. (If during playback, this might erase the recorded notes...)
