have to agree the special edition X does look way better then the og X; could be nostalgia, but never like the shiny plastic next to the volume meters.

I have never owned an X but I would consider this after the mpc 3.0 comes out; also I wanna see what else Akai has up they sleeve regarding the mpc One mk2

I dig it, but also no ethernet is just wild. If it had an ethernet and hdmi-out then I would consider it but since I've had a X for 4 years and havent run out of ram and also dont use plug-ins really, not sure this is for me. Looks nice though! I like they have added what looks like better support on the backside of the screen. They still had to add that kickstand though...

this is the mpc xl according the Bolo

I’m in the market for a upgraded mpc since I don’t see them upgrading the force but this just isn’t it.

I want hdmi out and mouse support.

To me....This is a Quick Fix for promising a New XL version prematurely. Now they have time to Revamp/Test the New XL.

A Bigger SD Card(probably a 64GB Card) in the Main Circuit Board, Retro Skin, along with all the New Plug-Ins installed is a Good Selling Point for the "Special Edition".

That'll Keep us happy for another 6 months

I think they'll upgrade the Force, but I also know this isn't the new XL, so I would wait till Akai drops a real update for the X not just this "limited edition".

You cannot upgrade the Force without having all the pads and buttons. If you remove any of the buttons and pads, it gets clunky and loses its force. The thing that sucks about the MPC is not being able to directly copy, delete, edit, etc things directly and immediately with physical buttons. And having to manage the track/program structure manually. I can't see any MPC as an upgrade.

Yes, and maybe we don't need a better one. I should try to suppress my GAS und focus more on the equipment I have.
To be honest I'm not limited by my boxes and plugins but by my available time.
