there is defo no rush to buy this mpc x se but the youtube minions love the retro look and they are perfectly happy with this grey mpc, its only die hard mpc heads that are as critical as those on this forum, but the average consumer is more then happy to buy different colour mpcs.

some just want to have a boutique retro/premuium looking device in they living room and probably wont even make that much beats, its like a style accessory to them; so they can be like they favorite influencer.

but yeah i would not buy shit until 3.0 drops and then we will see what units are on offer and what discount bundle deals are available.

but I suspect we wont get 3.0 until fall or even as late as early next year.

So they left out their best selling plugins lol

This is absolutely hilarious -- Literally exactly as I predicted!

In case anyone is wondering about what's different other than the skinjob:

I wonder if there will be a way to buy those faceplates.

Also, the XSE comes with MPC OS 2.11.9

I think this is pretty good deal for all parts.
We have no reason to feel "left behind" with our machines and AKAI gets a chance to pull in some cash. Without charging us, just new customers and that way be able to continue to develop the software.

That is a policy I like. If only all companies did that instead of trying to suck the life of existing clients all the time for every update and even introducing the monstrosity of "subscriptions".

There are probably enough new customers to provide money in addition to small paid extras like synths and effects.

£550 more for an extra 2GB of RAM? I guess it must be expensive, because RAM that small is pretty rare and hard to find any more

Are there any new features besides 2GB more RAM...?

Finding RAM? What are you talking about? The modern MPCs are all SoC-based. :hmmm:

I agree first mistake made in the MPC range. 1000 notes more for more memory and a retro white skin. Nothing innovative here, more a stopgap product before a totally redesigned MPC range in a few years time.

Perhaps a different, more positive way to look at all of this is that the X will continue to be supported for a lot longer!

That in itself is great news
