Just not my thing. Might make some vids at some point, but never anything with me talking direct to the camera, just not comfortable for me. Far too autistic for that :?

Not really where I'm coming from, I love being accountable only to myself. I buy all my gear, work to my own timetable, do as I please and say what I want :)

This is the most respectable thing I have read in ages. humble and pure. for the love it.

There's been some pretty harsh endictments on this thread, i think what bugs people most is now there is a slightly better in spec MPC-X and its going to go to new users. But good things come to those who wait, I have no doubts all our prayers will be answered in the next year couple years. By then we will have a zillion more demands.

I
got the opposite reaction. I was surprised with how short the video was. He gave a small rundown of the X and that was it. Nothing extra, not a big deal. Probably he felt like his audience has already seen enough of the X he owned and didn't want to come across as dishonest.

He's (they're) entitled to having an opinion. I think the problem is this new concept of "intimacy" marketing. We watch a guy that could be any of us, we like what he does, we relate to him, we root for him, and then we expect him to have the same views as us. Then people feel mad and betrayed when that doesn't happen. When they make it, they're sellouts. It's that weird parasocial shit.

You’re missing the point. He lied so he’d have something positive to say other than the obvious.

I’m not mad and I really don’t care just calling out the bullshit.

Interesting to see if the FCC leaked MPC One update is going to feature a 4GB board. That would be a pretty powerful but compact setup, especially if you pair it with a decent USB audio interface. Even better if they update the USB ports to USB 3.

This is what I’m keeping my eye on. I’ll scoop that up real quick.

These are SoC's inside, a "System On a Chip". The RAM is soldered to the board. There was no 'adding' or 'upgrading' RAM its part of the actual hardware.

Essentially we are running a fancy tablet/mobile platform inside that runs Linux. The MPC is pretty much an mobile device that runs Linux instead of Android. I work for ViewSonic, we used the Rockchip SoC's a few years ago in some of our 'network media players' and our Android based 'smart displays'. These things barely made the grade, even when they were current models. The MPC could've been a HUGE game changer if it had a 'real' CPU inside it, but everyone only wants to develop their 'smart' mobile devices nowadays. Works great for a singular purpose, but when you try to run it like a big desktop computer, they just don't have the what it takes to hold up.

There's this thing of people relating/identifying for sure, but there's also the fact that these YTbers are in a sandwich between audience and brands. Too harsh on the product, no more nice gear sent to your door for reviews. Too praising, audience's trust goes away. This is the main thing here, evolution from MPC X to X SE doesn't deserve any praises really. Only a minimal hardware tweak and few plugins and fresh paint thrown in there. And that's absolutely ok to do for a company, it's just a non event. A lot of these YTbers seem like decent doods but people probably expect them to be a bit more on the real side than the advertising side.

I think many people hating on YTer's don't realize how that platform is set up or how some choose to use it (indie/monetize) - Don't get attached to any of them. Just watch them for information, if they can make it entertaining take that as a bonus. They all got their own reasons why they do what they do, so if you don't like it then don't like their videos & move on. Even the the ones that seem real/cool could just be acting to appeal to a certain fanbase. Meet them in in person & you're like  :smh: :Sigh: BYE!

For those thinking that the SOC is somehow too old or limited or something.

I see every new product and every software update for the same platform version as increasing the potential for everyone. The more common the devices are, the better. I don't know how long Akai can keep producing more units, if the SOC vendor already ceased production a long time ago (?), but the longer they can continue improving the software, the better.

For comparison, Line6's Helix product line of guitar/bass processors was first released in 2015 (eight years ago), and it has been growing with different product variations. They're still selling new units and releasing new software updates. Just a few days ago, there was yet another update 3.60 that made it even better, even though I had already thought many times, this MUST BE the absolutely final version and it cannot be possible to make it any better. And yet there it is once again: more new and improved stuff. The latest amp "Grammatico GSG", together with the new cabinet models, is actually my new favorite. How can anything be this good. Along the way, they've optimized the DSP usage a lot, so that much more and heavier components can be used than how it originally was.

The hardware platform's being "old" is not a problem with MPC/Force. They're samplers, groove boxes, drum machines, MIDI sequencers, audio recorders. All actual limitations and usability problems are in the software, not in the hardware. I recently got a Roland SP-404 mk II, and it has a lot of great functions and usability ideas that would make Akai's products better. How much of that has anything to do with whatever processor there is inside? Roughly about 0.00000000000%.

Absolutely agree, all the potential for these machines is in improving the OS. And boy is there room for progress there... **cough hire UI/UX designer AKAI cough**
Hardware is a non issue. X and the others are well enough spec'ed for the vast majority of uses. This is audio production, and not the full orchestra kind. Plugins are handy tools to have but at some point the music has to get exported to a DAW for proper mixing. There's no point in cranking up the ram and CPU to get x more amount of plugins to run on this box imo, mixing in a MPC will always be sub optimal compared to a DAW. Laying out ideas and performing is where the MPCs potential for growth is at.

They don't see the difference between complaining and constructive criticism, always end up opposing questioning things and making music somehow. But that's alright, not the first time and probably not the last.
