Basically, don't jump to conclusions with these "leaks" & even if it is red, you can just buy a new skin. So focus on what's important, which is the features & if it's a tool that you need. If not, don't worry about it.

agree but looks like they did nothing, they could of added an internal battery they could of put a volume knob on the top of the unit

TBH, I'm sure it will look better in the flesh, those FCC photoshoots always look pretty grim. The MPCX SE looks a lot better than it did in the leaks.

We know from the FCC report that it's going to have wifi and bluetooth, but I wonder if it will have the 4GB ram and USB 3.0. Couldn't tell from the video if it had a blue USB port.

I'll be surprised if it doesn't have the additional ram. I also bet it'll come with all the plugins

doubt it will come with all the plugins as that would bump up the price by bout 500

All of this excitement about skins and faceplates and colours makes me think of the days when you could just up the BLANG on your BEAT THANG.

(Now a moment of introspective silence for all the beatmakers on the thread who got a sudden attack of nostalgia, or horror.)

I think that I may be alone in this, but I'd rather have the golden X than the retro, regardless of the RAM bump. If the goal is eye-catching style, nothing quite communicates your stylistic commitment to being a real trend-setter the way that the gear equivalent of a diamond-encrusted grill does. I kind of want a golden X next to a Beat Thang on my stage stand, with neon orange trucknuts hanging from the end of the mic boom.

I'm curious - has anybody been able to determine whether the CPU was bumped up in any way other than the RAM in the SoC? Cache? Bus rate? Anything? I saw some mention of quad-core, but wasn't the original quad as well?

no reason to think this is not the final colour; cos the MPC X SE colours were proven to be the final colours; but yes they may have multiple colours and that would defo be wise cos dont think many people will like the red, obviously u can add skins but many people juds basedof superficial things; hence why so much energy goes into product aesthetics, its a big deal almost on par with the features

If it does it's going to be pretty confusing for prospective customers to know which model to go for, unless they also release a 4GB Live 3 at the same time (which would also need all the plugins).

what makes u think there will be a Live 3 anytime soon? considering the live 2 only came out fairly recently?

maybe they might re-release the live 2 with extra ram and internal memory bumped up but I dont see them doing aredsign of live any time soon, and it looks like the mpc one mk2 will not be redesigned at all, which is in keeping with the mpc x se.

so the current appearance, layout of these devices will be fixed for many years to come, by the looks of things

The FCC database says the confidentiality expires on all the test photos and user manual on 8/1/2023 (1st August)

I think I can remember that at least the external image of the key61's underside has been available in the FCC db a short while ahead of its release. So we might not see the One until end of August either.

I didn't mean that they will be releasing a live 3 specifically, I just said, based on the current line up, that a 4GB MPC One is going to cause confusion when the model above only has 2GB, so they might have to release a 4GB live to remove that confusion, whatever name they choose, be it a live 3, or a live 2 XL etc.

I think most customers hate it when manufacturers make the purchasing decision more complicated than it needs to be. Better to have the clear boundaries 'budget MPC: MPC One' , 'Mid Level MPC: MPC Live', 'Flagship: MPC X'.

Personally I think combine the best features of the One and the Live and call it a day. I just think some of the limitations they put in the MPC One are just annoying and a little obnoxious (lack of wifi, lack of multiple USB 3, SATA drive support). Okay, I can appreciate that wifi & bluetooth would have required FCC related costs, but clearly they finally realised this was a daft decision.

Not too bothered about the battery as I can see it would drive up the cost a fair bit, but I also understand why people would like to see the One form factor with a battery.

Full Ack.
Always felt the One could be the better Live for the button layout alone. But it had some weird limitations. But I also think the Flagship X has this weird limitation of not having an ethernet port. I am not moving it around nearly as much like a One or a Live and in a crammed studio setup (and not only there) ethernet still beats wifi. Fortunately we only need internet access for updates or plugin activation. But it wouldn't be the first time that I have a jam session at my studio and the MPC has lost activation of the plugins AGAIN and the huge columns of water (namely the peeps joining the jam session) block the wifi signal. And the One being the gear I take on trips has ethernet only and I have to "schlepp" an ethernet-usbc adapter with me to tether it to my laptop for some internet. It's one more wire to forget at home and be f-ed on the road.

Come on, man, B-Wise - think of the showmanship! It's a live show you'd never forget! In fact, have cameras on it so that a VJ can lace it into nightmarish visuals for the mega backdrop so that every hit of the sub puts a Beat Thang right in your field of vision!

Seriously, and more relevant to the topic at hand, as long as the visual design of a device is functional so that it's easy to work and easy to understand, I don't really get the fascination with re-skinning equipment. It's like when KORG had had the Krome on the market for a while, and came out with three different colour options. How many people are so shallow or blind that they're sitting there thinking: "You know - the Krome is a tool I could really use, but that black faceplate? Such a fashion bore! Now get me that red one and just take my money!" This goes double for something like the X which isn't even really a gigging tool, the way that the Krome is placed to be.

The only functional upgrade about which I would care is maybe the RAM, and it's not really persuasive by itself. Maybe that's why they paired it with the reskin, just to draw people in with the power of nostalgia for something that was already old when they were born (OK, not everybody, but many young guns were still teething when the 4000 came out)?

I think its as simple as them just moving the whole line into 4gb with the plugins. Its essentially releasing a whole new line without having to design one.
