Guess I may as well add my experience to this, just so I can vent today's frustration a bit...

So I bought flavour pro not long ago for my Live Mk1, and that worked fine. Then yesterday my GAS got unbearable and I ended up pulling the trigger on the X SE, which arrived today. (I'm a BIG sucker for the retro colourway and my wish was actually a retro X, so I'd basically been waiting for this to come out.)

Anyway, so I go to activate flavour pro on my new X SE, no dice. Contacted support and the guy was friendly and helpful enough (thanks again!), but he told me it can take 24 hours to be able to activate it. I gotta say this is pretty annoying to put it mild lol. Especially considering this machine should IMO come with flavour pro anyway.

I've been looking for solutions, since I'd like to work on stuff today which already uses the plug in (and I already migrated my SSD out the Live into the X) and now can't, and have to wait. (Giving me time to hop on this forum and vent heh.)

The only possible solution I saw was the hacked firmware... Which, I obviously don't want to be installing on day one of a brand new device.

I just think this whole activation stuff is pretty wild, especially on a brand new 2k piece of hardware, it just makes no sense to me.

Basically, they REALLY need to change how this whole activation thing works, cos it's broken af tbh, and I did mention this to support, and he seemed to agree tbf. But between stuff like this, and people having to reactivate at gigs (a literal nightmare scenario), it's kinda nuts lol. I'd sort of understand it if it was VST, I guess, but like, why does it even need this on a piece of hardware (which I registered)? :hmmm:

And like others have mentioned, what happens when the server is down, or they stop supporting the devices all together... This whole thing needs a re-think and fix asap.

24 hours to activate is just weird, because if you buy from plugin boutique it is activated immediately, you just install the plugin, run it in any host, log in to your inmusic account in the plugin and paste in your activation code. Done, and it’s immediately available on all your mpcs as well. Buying from akai seems to be the worse way to go about things as you have to wait for the purchase to eventually show up in your inmusic account, no activation code is given (well , at least it wasn’t when I bought mini-d)

Yeah the whole way it currently works just seems weird, and broken. Even weirder is it seemingly knows I own it already too, since it shows the green "activate" button.

My experience with this (as advised by tech support) was to change the time settings to UTC, seemed to help with server activation. The whole procedure, from buying through to activating, is woeful.

I actually just spotted that on another thread, got excited and tried it, no dice unfortunately. Well, at least I'm super tired and will probably just have an early night and hopefully it works when I wake up haha.

Weheyyy we have activation, finally. FWIW I did have it set to UTC again, not sure if that's what fixed it, since I'd tried that a few times already and it didn't work...
Either way, got there in the end thankfully.

Still, having something like this happen on the day of a gig would be the stuff of nightmares. And also gotta say, not my favourite day one experience ever either tbh haha. Here's to day 2! And thanks for the UTC tip! :)

Weirdly flavour pro isn't on plug boutique (as far as I can see anyway). Even more strange, delay pro already is.
