MPC Live 2 Repair Issue

I just replaced my carrier board on my Live 2 because the battery stopped receiving power. The replacement fixed the issue, but I can’t get the display to work. If I power it up it is illuminated, but it stays dark. I can control it and shut it down, but I get nothing on the screen. I think I have narrowed it down to what I think is the seating of the gold ribbon cable connection to the display. Does anyone have any experience with this? I need to figure out what to do from here. Thanks

Oof... that gold ribbon cable is pretty delicate. Is it possible that you damaged it when you took the machine apart? Are you sure you seated it back the right way into the connector? I'm assuming your screen worked fine before your repair?

I was told that with the new carrier board it needs a firmware update. I will see if that works.

The gold ribbon cable is not damaged, but if it was, what would I do to replace it? I inspected it by shining a light under it and going over it with a magnifier The seat is also good, and clean.

How does one perform a firmware update without a working display? I tried to enter it into update mode manually, but I can’t get that to work. I have tried to navigate blindly but no dice. Any thoughts?

I imagine there must be a serial/JTAG or an in-circuit debugging port somewhere on the PCB that may have an option to flash the firmware as a last resort.

Have you already tried flashing from the MPC desktop software?

Also, apparently there is a secret key combination to force the MPC into DFU-mode:

Power on the unit whilst holding FULL LEVEL, BROWSE and PAD BANK C.

I tried about 30 times to do an update without a working display. I gave up and sent it off for repair. Thanks for the input

I had this same issue but if you press your finger down a bit on the side where the cable goes to the screen, you may see the screen come back on it seems that a static discharged is needed if static electricity may have gotten into the unit. I did this a few times, then slightly touched it again, and the screen started working for me. This was all after fidling with my carrier board as well. You may have to take the screen out just look for the screws in the battery area to remove the screen. It should be
