I am new to MPC and following the tutorial. It says to adjust the Velocity:
To adjust the velocity of the selected notes, tap Velocity at the bottom of the screen, and then use the data dial or –/+ buttons. The numeric value will appear on the screen.

When I select the note and try to adjust the velocity using the data dial, it just switches between different parameters. The only way I can adjust velocity is to use the velocity lane and use the touchscreen.

Is there a way to adjust the velocity of a note using the data dial?

Select notes, tap velocity, use data dial.

Your highlight was still on parameters is why the data dial changed parameters.

Thr parameter you are looking for is the button called AUTOMATION. By pressing „velocity“ itself you change the parameter you‘ll change by changing automation.

It is next to NUDGE, TRANSPOSE etc.

EDIT: This has changed a while ago. Your manual (or THE manual) might be a bit out of date.
