This is cool for people who don’t have an mpc. But if it has the same issues as the one + buyer beware

Also really weird to come out with a workstation mpc but not have all the sounds. Once you buy all the sounds you essentially bought a key 61 with less ram.

Anyways now we wait for stems :smoker:

I wonder if this is what "Direct USB MIDI" means?

it means that you can plug the MPC Key 37 to your PC or hardware and control and sequence any software or hardware that accepts class compliant MIDI devices without having to download some AKAI network drivers.

It was not possible before and is still not possible with the other MPC. you can't plug a MPC live to say a Yamaha SEQTRAK via USB and sequence the SEQTRAK from the MPC via MIDI USB.

Not giving it 4gb of ram is a fail imho.

That would nullify any reason to get their high end items, like the Key 61 and X SE.

I agree. The fact they went with 2gb of ram, they gave it the MpcLive Encoder instead of upgrading it to a better quality one. The MpcX make Dial is nice compared to the Live/One and so forth.
I like this extra USB they added in, but I honestly will not buy this. I could see people liking the formfactor and going with it, but it just feels like we are being dragged with a blind eye through all this 2gb of ram when in reality its not an expensive upgrade and they should just add it. Also like I said in the past. If they aren't ever going to add an HDMI Out to anything, then they could use bluetooth, if they ever figure that out.

I'm still gonna wait for a new MPCX but I feel like I will be waiting another 4 years or something... Guess the XSE is really there "upgrade"
Crazy how a company got rid of the original design with HDMI, then gatekeeps ram for... I dunno... how many years has it been since the Live/X? It's been a damn while. Also yeah.. No audio over usb? Unless maybe someone missed something with that extra usb.

I'm not sure how releasing a literal keyboard workstation that is perfectly suited to... you know... making music... is not about/for music anymore. :hmmm: I mean, I get that people want an OS update and/or new features, but - still confused on this.

Can you elaborate? I mean, Akai have never been a charity - not even in the 80's when they released the original MPC60. They're a for-profit revenue-driven company that just happens to make music gear.

At this point, if you buy all the plugs, you spent about as much as a 61 but with less ram. Feels like a rip off to me. I like the form factor of the 37 but come on man, it’s 2024. Give me ram for all the plugs you want me to buy so I can actually use them.

What company ever released that 1 type of device that would be right the form for everyone?

Them making multiple kinds of device with different forms for different customers needs is about the music. For most of MPCs history there's only been main form. Now you got a MPC with a battery & speaker, keys, & even the Force which like a MPC with 64 pads & a crossfader.

You seem to have unrealistic expectations :hmmm:
