Most people will think this will happen so many people who may be interested due to MPC3 won't buy the existing stuff (like me!) so they need to get the new stuff out pretty fast! (I noticed there are a few sales on the MPC Live II and One+ right now) https://www.gearnews.com/synth-deals-ko ... -akai-mpc/

No way akai releases the final /standard release of MPC 3 with program edit still on the chassis right ?

That will just further confuse the audience that they are trying to target…

They did switch the OG X once before …

Money is definitely on revisions for the old line and one new machine.

Don't wanna a power horse costy hardware, I've got only one complain concerning handling audio track amount and maybe a little bit more of virtual instruments instances except that, never found my mpc x limited especially with samples. It's a sampler after all.

Given the ecosystem that Akai has built... I'd be willing to bet that there will be another more powerful system at some point. When that will be is anybody's guess though.

Modern CPUs are tending to have much more memory so I'd imagine something in the 8gb-16gb range wouldn't be unreasonable, more cores in the 4-8 range would that are likely faster and more power efficient could enable for a more hybrid battery/plugged in operation, and more powerful dsp/gpu would enable more of the stem/ai workloads and possible far more advanced synthesis and fx techniques. Beyond that... I'd guess some kind of hardware configuration changes/upgrades to push people that need "the latest and greatest"... but who knows if it'd make a big difference or not to the workflow.

It would make that whole Roger Linn MPC promo video make more sense. I said it seems like they're working on something, but I don't a gen won't come out for a few years.

They may try to be slick & make a new device with the old guts but more suited to 3.0 by giving it more pads & buttons. Interesting times...

The configurable left icon bar hints at that: the new hotness gets physical buttons for direct access to the new screens, but accessing them is tolerably possible on existing devices. As we mentioned in the other thread, a clip matrix screen would fit right there !

Please!!!!!

If they add a clip-matrix screen in this current gen then they'll most likely make one of the next MPCs look more Force like for people that want to go that way. MPF is the future!

poor logic; its much more likely that once the beat testing for 3.0 is complete; they will want to release 3.0 with some new hardware, so expect MPC XL new flagship to arrive with the offical 3.0 release early 2025; followed by MPC live 3 later on in 2025

Unfortunately, the MPC is not kontakt, and it is also not a workstation (Fantom, Motif, Triton/Kronos/Nautilus). Maybe 8 layer keygroups are useful for some, but I have found that the MPC hardware is not optimized for these type of sounds, and all it does it use up the very little and highly valuable sample memory. It is better to just sample directly from a VST, synth or plugin instead of using keygroups. I have a lot of the aforementioned expansions, but I would rather sample a trumpet from my MC-101 than use the "MPC Orchestra" to get a more realistic sound. My friends said the expansions sound cheezy and lame compared to the same beat with hardware sounds or VSTs.

You don't really really understand the implications of the added functionality. You can have the greatest sound in the world or a crappy one, its a sample player, that has never changed. What makes amazing thing possible now is not only can you have 8 layers, but every layer can actually be a longer audio file, and that audio file can be sliced to only play a section of that audio file on a press.

You can round Robin it or random play it. So essentially you can do all sort of things to spice up a sound. Different harmonics, time shifting, detuning pitch, articulations and that's just the start. Imagine putting a chord progression on layer one, guitar articulations on layer 2 and hi hat on layer 3 and having combinations of that round robining and random playing, plus using velocity layer triggers etc etc etc.

For clarity I'm talking about long er audio files that have different chord and different articulations spread out over the wave and then sliced. There can hardly be a reason that one couldn't create amazing eargasiming instruments with this, now that it can be handled by disk streaming.

You are right about the current way the MPC handles keygroups. I don't really find them that useful either due to the high memory impact, but disk streaming a keygroup changes a lot. This shouldn't eat a massive chunk of memory. It opens up a vast amount of possibilities sound creation wise and especially performance wise.

Your the last person to talk about poor logic. My logic is poor because I said they may make a new device in a few years instead of next year & your basing the release of these new MPC on nothing but your options. OK.

I think they won't make a new gen next year based the the fact that they just released 2 new MPC recently & people will need more time to adjust to the new OS, which won't be available for desktop untill 2025. I also said they may try to be slick & make a new model of the current gen made more for 3.0 before that indicating that a new MPC could come out next year.

No need to insult me, this is the one reasons I stop replying to you & how months ago you flat out lied about what another member EnochLight said, got called out on it & you didn't provide proof or apologize. I don't block people, but please don't reply to my posts. Or reply but don't except a response in the future.
