I just said, if you like to work for free, good for you.

Works well for the gaming industry. Thousands of people are happy buying and playing/testing beta games for years. :)

I do hope they do at least one more bug fix update to MPC 2, standalone and controller.

I'm looking at 3 being released without time signatures or clips etc. and and realizing that I'll be on 2 for a while, but the VST2 is still a bit unstable when loaded into a DAW, and not really useable on Sequoia as as a DAW since it's audio drivers crackle audio when the buffer is below about 1024. I'm not the only person reporting this.

Well, I am here for music, not for videogames.

And so? I was only saying that public betas are not an invention of Akai and are (why I can only speculate) well established in other industries.

Mad at me because of this or just still grumpy because of Akai?

Yes, well established in our age where people pay money to buy a product and then work for free to help them develop it.
I would call it reverse marketing process.
Anyway, just take a look at Air, everytime they release a product, it's perfectly working.
These are professional people, no need to release public beta, they know what they are doing.
And they are saving Mpc, if you ask me.

Bro, you're comparing a plugin company that only has to focus on plugins vs a groovebox that has way more thing going on, plugins being just one of those things. AIR doesn't have to release betas.

The fact that you're stuck on people "working for free" which is optional, to help speed up the development for 7 year old product is some first world BS. Most hardware isn't even sold after a few years, let alone supported with a new OS that it users can offer suggestions/feedback, but bitching is free also, so waste your time all you like or move on.

Happy New years!

I don't agree.
If I had to solve midi issues (after 7 years, they are still there), I would hire a midi expert, pay him and have a good work done.
If I had to solve bugs and issues of a new OS, I would hire a professional worker, pay him and have a good work done.
Imagine how confusing it will be to have feedback from amateurs and rookies, hiphop influencers, gamers and so on.
It's gonna be a mess as it was when MPC2 beta testers were just screwing everything update per update, breaking track mutes, without solving any MIDi issue because they don't use MIDi, it's not necessary for hiphop influencers.
And then yes, I like when professional people work and get paid, I feel I am helping them to get the money they deserve after studying years and years rather then passing time on youtube to catch the attention as influencers.
Happy new year.

Beta testers don't screw things up or break track mutes, that's on the developers. Beta testers test, report and leave it to the developers to pick and choose what they can or cannot fix.

I can assure you that most existing bugs on the MPC were reported long ago by beta testers, the testers do a great job.

BTW, I have no idea if Akai hire outside parties to help them problem solve, be it testing or development.

yes, sure.
During the MPC2 updating process that lasted 5 years, I talked to a Beta tester.
He didn't know that Track Mute can be quantized with TC.
He didn't even know the meaning of the word Quantize.
He said he liked MPC for the colors of the pads when you hit them in the darkness.
How can you highlight bugs and issues if you don't even know how MPC works?
Are you aware of the fact that if you pay a midi professional expert, all midi issues get solved in a month?
Did you ask yourself why, at the opposite, they are still there after 7 years?

so you judge all beta testers by the one so-called beta tester you met? There are in-house alpha testers, closed/private beta testers, public beta testers. Some beta testers do nothing and get dropped, nature of the beast when you invite customers into a beta program, but lots do good work

You seem to be angry with the wrong people. The people who are in charge of fixing MPC issues are the developers and they are ultimately controlled by the suits at inMusic.

Yep, Akai developers will pass all time filtering out all the supposed bugs that come from people who don't know how to use Mpc or don't have any knowledge about audio signal processing.
That's public beta, a way to avoid paying experts.
And yes, Akai beta process with MPC2 has been painful to say the least.
Imagine that we still have known bugs since 7 years.
Very good work.

OPX-4 works quite will it has simple UI issues. Like stupid labels or endless selects that should be grouped and so on. If they were so professional they would fix that. But they don't. They are even so professional that I couldn't even find a way to contact them.

And here's why I don't praise Air:

Years ago I bought Loom II for Windows which had bugs. None of them got addressed. Actually nothing got fixed back then as Air went into hiatus. Leaving all VST users out in the cold with broken UI as the orld moved on to HDPI screens and the old VSTs simply became unusable.

But I assume that once Inmusic bought up the remains of Air they hired a new team to fletch out the old stuff (eg Hype is a stripped down Hybrid 3) for MPC and VST/AU. The latter is a bit of a joke as for any Air plugin you can better and cheaper options as VST/AU or even for free.
