How much polyphony does the key 61 have? From inside the edit samples menu it looks like 32 notes, also I experience a lot of dropouts when trying to run tracks from the pads. Im running whole songs not 8 bar clips. A work around to the 8 audio tracks

drums; maybe (max) 4 at a time, then a piano (chord), another 4, a bass 1, a sample or two (at the same time), a lead synth (2) and then some EFX/add-ons (1 at a time)
that makes 14
times 2 for stereo (?)
i count 28

It’s not that hard to run out of polyphony in a busy sequence: with 8 audio tracks running concurrently you’re already down to 24; add a couple of chords and drums and loops and it’s at the max.

wavejockey and sparky are correct.

In 2025 key 61 should have a minimum 128 note polyphony not 32 thats 1980s polyphony!! Im using polyphony for the keygroups, the internal sounds are bomb but are cpu heavy, keygroups are lighter on cpu, thus needed polyphony (128)!!

That lil cpu in there doesn’t care what we think about the year.

I would be surprised if the MPC only had 32 voices of polyphony. A single Keygroup can have 32 voices of polyphony.

Maybe check your release times and polyphony count on synths and keygroups.

If you have lots of note tails ringing out (like a quickly plucked arpeggio with a 10 second release time) you will eat up polyphony quick. Try setting polyphony lower per program.

Unless you are running everything from a single drum program, which could be problematic for busy sequences.

"voices" are counted and have their limits separately for drum voices and for general voices (plugins). each plugin(generator) outputs two voices (stereo) only but there is an additional variable called "voice weight" which increases with number of notes played at the same time.
I can easily go beyond 32 voices with just several plugins and two drum tracks

How does "voice weight" work?

have no idea, never tried to make any sense out it. It might have something to do with automation that affect the voice or with path it takes to reach the output. I'll have a closer look.

Well Im sampling my FA06 into the Key 61 and in order to correctly copy the tones I have to use the 4 slots just like partials on the FA06 some sounds have short sustains coupled with long sustains at the same time for the overlay partial. I have been able to almost copy the FA 100% although I have much dropout because of the limited polyphony (32). I prefer keygroups over internal sounds because you can use the board regardless of the login/logout thing which I really dont like anyway. plus each tone fits nicely on one pad, using the other layering (stacking) system is complicated and cant control the volume with just one nob. My system has each tone on a pad for quick selection as a stand alone multi timbral synth!! 32 keygroups at once
