Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 (3rd gen) connects, ins seem to work but no audio out

I’m late to the party but speed read most of this thread and it seems like this interface had the same issue at first on 2 but got working at some point. I think it’s broken again.

I tested all audio interfaces I got at home, and I also measured the round trip latency (RTL) for each device. This can be done by recording a sample from the device output back into its input (switch off monitoring before!) and by counting in the sample editor how many samples the recorded signal is late with respect to the original sample. This is exact up to 1 sample and gives the same result i.e. as the RTL Utility on Windows. I got the following "ranking":

MPC internal - 427 samples = 9,68 msec
Mackie ProFx6v3 - 468 samples = 10,61 msec
Audient iD24 - 507 samples = 11,50 msec
Steinberg UR22 MK2 - 564 samples = 12,79 msec

All interfaces working (playback and record). I got digital noise on the Steinberg in one occasion.

Now it would be nice from AKAI to implement a feature so we could specify this delay for a tighter mixdown. The delay should affect all but the audio tracks (drum, plugin, keygroup, midi and possibly CV). If there is such a setting or plugin, please let me know, I have not found one. This would be like a poor man's latency compensation, as added latency from plugins is not taken into account, but better as no compensation.

How did you get the iD24 to work? I've been trying all evening... How do you power the iD24 an connect it to the usb of the mpc at the same time???

Has anyone ever tried the iConnect Audio4+ or iConnect 4C with an Akai MPC Key 37?

I’m experiencing an audio issue with my Audio4+. Every 30 seconds to 1 minute, the sound starts cracking more and more, gets slightly detuned, then returns to normal for 2 to 3 minutes before cracking again.

I also tried with an Audio4C, but the problem persists.

I even rolled back to MPC firmware version 2, but nothing helped.

I tested both iConnect units with Maschine, iPad, and Mac—no issues at all.

What can I do? Does Akai monitor this thread?

Have you checked sample rate matches on both sides ?

I’ve tried everything to get the Audio 4c to work without making screeching sounds.. At first it will look like it works but at random it will make noises and screeching sounds..

I might try to play around with it again at some point but for now it’s been laying in it’s box for a few years already.

Hey Jeezs,

I had exactly the same issue you're describing when using my Akai MPC with the iConnectivity Audio4+ interface. I was experiencing crackles, pops, and distorted audio that would repeatedly come and go, exactly as you described.

The solution:
The problem arises because the MPC and the iConnectivity interface must share exactly the same digital clock source. By default, if they aren't properly synchronized, you'll hear these periodic distortions.

Here's the fix:

Connect your MPC to the USB port of the iConnectivity interface.

Open the iConfig software.

Navigate to the Audio Info section.

Under Clock Source, select the USB port your MPC is connected to as the clock source (e.g., "USB Port 1 Clock").

The reason this works is that the MPC needs to be the master clock in the setup. By setting the interface to sync its clock from the MPC, both devices will run perfectly synchronized at the same sample rate (44.1 kHz).

After doing this, the audio was crystal clear with no crackles or pops at all.

Hope this helps!

Is this no longer pinned??? any reason?

Anyway, slightly off subject but the Blokes Midihub works with my MPC one, all ports are recognised and useable.

I haven’t gotten the expert sleepers es-9 to work despite it being labeled as class compliant. I get pops and weird distortions randomly.

The most consistent interfaces to work seem to be RME interfaces. They work great without any issues (other than baby face pro Fs having to switch outputs to 3/4 to be able to monitor through headphones).

Anyone own a 1010 Bluebox? I'm really curious to know if it works as an audio interface because they added class compliant interface support. If so I'll replace my K-Mix with it, but I don't want to make the purchase unless I know. Admittedly it's annoying that so many class compliant interfaces don't work, I really think Akai needs to work on that.

I haven't seen this in the list, so:

Korg MW-2408 (and presumably MW-16xx). Analogue/digital hybrid mixing desk with simple two-channel USB audio I/O.

Works with issues - supposedly class compliant and supports 16-bit and 24-bit at 44.1 or 48K.

Have tried many USB cables - if I use one cable it doesn't work. Even got a fancy audiophile one to try just in frustration.

If I use two USB extension cables it shows up, but I get occasional crackles in the mixer view. Don't seem to get them as much if in an instrument editor or main menu. Monitoring setting doesn't seem to make much difference, it does sound like an intermittent clocking issue but since there's no way of setting the rate on the Korg or the Akai, there's no real way to tell what the problem is. Helpful on both sides.

This is backed up by using one of those cheap USB power isolators - they state in the specs that they downgrade the available bandwidth to USB 1.0 type levels. Use one of those and it shows up fine (but crackles slightly more frequently).

My guess is the Korg wants to autonegotiate a rate, and using two extension cables degrades the data rate enough that it falls back to whatever the Akai likes, because I can't think of any other reason for it to ONLY work with two extension cables - not one cable, not only one extension, but two extensions.

Either way - Korg MW-2408 'should work, theoretically can work, but given the faffing involved and crackles, and the reward of just getting two channels from a 24-channel 8 buss mixer, it's not worth bothering'. Shame as it seemed like a really convenient way of cutting down on cables and just quickly sampling things that go into the mixer without needing to bother with the rest of the stuff that's hooked up.
