New MPC Device Listed in FCC Database

lets see if we get a new live announced in june

it seems like the next gen live will be announced before the next gen X as we have seen no fcc filing of a new X shaped product

Also at this most of the people that want a MPC has & or can get one used elsewhere, so what they may last longer. It not like Akai is running to the general public like TV back in the day. Tho, it would be dope to see a MPC TV commercial out of the blue.

I swear the young peeps dont watch TV like dat no more; so pointless.

Youtube and social media is all there is now; pretty sure cable and all them endless channels must have all switched over to podcasts and other mediums by now.

An mpc tv comercial would make it appear to be a toy for the every-man. I could see it though, they get a few staple users stick em in a comercial like "the mpc brought us here, this is how we did it. this mf. right here. buy it." and they put in the walmart av section...

An pro advertiser can make a product appear to be anything from a toy to top of the line serious piece of machinery.

I was thinking more 90s American TV commercial style. Like seeing a commercial for the 3k in 94-95 while watching the original Rap City with Joe Clair. I still remember the MTV commercial for the DR202 with the young Black kid on his bike running in the house to that wack ass demo beat. Saw that shit & had to have it back 2002. Memories...

It’s already gone. Only thing left are open boxes units (with a price increase).

The listing for the SSD bundle is backordered which will probably be pulled on Monday.

Thanks for the info. I keep feeling like Akai could be doing this on purpose. Because I think it's too soon to drop a new gen when the OS on both standalone & desktop are still in beta & if it's current gen, then why stop selling the other options?

If it is new gen then maybe they expect the OS to be ready for it by Xmas & don't mind just living off the last bit of stock around the world.

Or, the OS could be done already on the new gen & this "beta" for the standalone is just for the old devices that they will still support OS wise, but the pc software needs to be developed now for both gens to use later.

You give Akai too much credit lol. An OS in beta won’t stop people from buying new hardware. The hardware sales fund the software development

Most of us bought the REN, Live, and X when the OS was shit. They just didn’t call it beta back then

Whats your point? They released new hardware running a beta OS and sold a bunch of them.

I made my point. You said an unfinished OS won't stop "people" - which is everybody in the world or at least all MPC customers. I never said anyone are a group of people wouldn't buy a MPC with an unfinished OS. I was just pointing out that the suckers that brought it knowing it was in that state doesn't include the other group of people that didn't go for that.

I didn't pay that much attention to the Ren when it came out. So please remind me how unfinished was it when it dropped?

the DR-202 was my first hardware purchase regretfully; though it did have some cool sounds and I learned drum programming from a hardware perspective on there, it was not what I was looking for far as an all in one solution, I wish I just splashed on the MPC 2000xl from da jump, I would of progressed much faster as a producer had i done so.

The OS when Ren launched was pretty bad. Missing basic features, lots and lots of bugs, etc. But Akai updated fairly quick and often. It was pretty clear the early users were the beta testers.

But they sold a lot of them from the start. I had never seen so many mpcs on eBay at that time. lol. It was a great time to scoop up an Xl, 1000or 2500 for cheap

It was also my first piece of standalone hardware. Before that I had MTV Music Generator 2 for PS2 that I saw out of nowhere at Gamestop in the BX. I don't regret it at all. It was so basic but nifty. It made me be more creative because it couldn't sample & you could only use 1 bass patch per pattern, so I would overdub different part at different octaves to make a whole beat with drums, a bass-line, harmony & a lead melody.

I found 3 DR202 beats tapes from like 2003 back in Nov of 2022. I'm currently making a album with the best beats from the DR all remade with the Force & other gear, even samples from the 3 cassette tapes. It's been a great ride so far, esp after I learned how to control the DR202 Cutoff parameter with the Force crossfader - It don't use common CC messages, but NRPN - this made the synth on waaaay more interesting.
