Looks like its finally been fixed with the 3.6.0 version.

I just ran a very quick test and it appears to be behaving as expected.

They say in the manual...

"MIDI Improvements
You can now configure individual pads within a Drum Track to send specific MIDI notes for triggering external gear, lighting, or video sources.

We’ve also expanded the MPC sequencer’s MIDI capabilities with full per-event channel recording and routing. This update unlocks more flexible workflows for multi-timbral instruments and external MIDI gear. "

rather than saying they fixed the "note off" issue a million+ people were complaining about.

Thanks so much for breaking that section down. I thought that's what they were talking about but didn't have the time to come back to it. I'll test it on the Force.

Well thank goodness.

After replacing my 2000XL of over a decade with a 1000 on JJOS earlier this year...I became quite disappointed realizing it had issues, particularly note on/off & MIDI problems, and recently upgraded to a Live 2...which I began to learn has had MIDI issues of it's own. So I was about to get pretty annoyed dealing with these MIDI issues 2 units in a row when I started reading about bugs on the Live (considering I've pretty much determined to stick with MPCs and it was starting to make me second guess things). It feels good to own a piece of gear that still gets updates now, little more "peace of mind" let's just say.

I bought it as my main *sequencer* and not particularly a sampler (though I definitely use them as drum machines), so if there's some sort of MIDI bug in there, I will probably find it eventually hahaha. I'm actually planning on hooking up, like, twice as much MIDI cabling now and have a few more synths that I used to externally control, but will now be sending MIDI into the MPC as well i.e. MIDI CC/automation, so that's going to add more data into the sequencer. Wondering just how many knobs I can tweak on how many synths before things get buggy...

That’s impressive. Mixing events with multiple MIDI channels within a single track is something even Ableton can’t do. To support this, the MIDI track’s OUTPUT CH setting now includes an “Any” option.

I hope some does a review on the less talked about but helpful new features.
