I had a launch version and was hella disappointed in the lack of firmware updates. Especially that it didn't launch with what it was promised. Be honest, Akai still treats the Force like its overweight step-child that makes bad grades and plays in the marching band..........clarinet.
Okay bummer, but that's not basis for "what's the point" years later when things have changed and Akai has firmly embraced the Force style workflow and firmware for MPCs.
It's like the Honda CVCC when it first came out: poorly planned and marketed and not what consumers wanted. So they made rolling changes over the years. Now that Civic platform is the basis for all the Honda and Acura compact cars and crossovers and one of the best platforms worldwide.
My daughter played clarinet and son played oboe, had a great time in school band. You should see them now.
