The only reason DeckSaver won’t make a cover is because there haven’t been enough units sold - nor demand for the covers. I’ve been pestering them to make one for the Roland System 8, and they flat out told me they couldn’t sell enough to make it profitable. No clue where they’d get their “numbers” from, though. I doubt neither Roland nor Akai shares how many units they’ve sold.

PETG is almost as easy to print as PLA and it does not have the drawbacks of PLA. Nowadays PETG and PLA are the same price, especially in bulk bundles. Printing in sections and assembling is a piece of cake, especially if you handle it well in the design. Unless for some reason you need a seamless front top face there is no real difficulty in printing. You could also hybrid diy by printing the sides and then using a acrylic sheet face that would just press into the sides.

You can just use a card board box if you are worried about it. put a box upside down over the machine so if the kitty walks on it its no big deal. why pay for some goofy piece of plastic when you could use that money for moaaaar gear!? lol

Cardboard boxes are like crack to cats, give it 5 minutes and the box will either be upside down in a different room or shredded into a 1000 pieces and used as a litter tray.

LOL touché, now that you mention it there is a montage of my cat scratching all the amazon boxes i have amassed...

I wanna get a rifle hardcase for my gear, they are about $100 CAD and will fit keyboards, mpc (non x), turntables -lots of stuff. I always manage to shatter the plastic covers for my turntables and gear. somehow they all get broken and its usually when they arent attached to the device :(

Christ. I suppose the thing is, you only pay for it once, and if it's worth having, it's worth having.

I had a similar thing the other way (US to UK) - not quite as expensive, but still pretty substantial. It was a new skin for my Force, which was horribly sticky. I don't regret it at all, the unit (in white) looks and feels great now.

Mind you, I just removed all the rubber from my Live mk1 when it went the same way. Cheap, and I quite like the battered look to be honest.

I just put white on the bottom half of my Force to make the black buttons & knobs stand better:

The gear being protected is a few thousand $’s, so yep, once and done, just as you said, it’s worth having. I had one on mpc x when I sold it, I wanted one for XL also. It’s a mandatory imo.
