Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Whats up people!!! Im having my first problem with my mpc, need some help. First, sorry if someone has asked this before, i did search and could not find an answer.

Okay, when i turn my mpc on, it says "insert mpc2000xl disk" . I downloaded the new os and when i put in the floppy with it, its loads the os and works just fine. BUT, when i turn off the mpc and turn it back on, it asks for it again. Ive had my mpc for about a year, and it has never done this.

Please, if anyone knows a solutions, i would really appreciate it. Or if someone know a number i can call for assistance. The number for support on the akai website dosent work.

Thankz,

What model you rockin'?If you have the 2k you have to load the os everytime you power up.I know the 4k has internal memory or a flash rom so you don't have to do that.As far as the other models i'm not sure.

Hey same shit just happened to me. I loaded 1.20 on it and then it kept coming up insert disk. If you put the disk that has the .bin file on it it will load. then reload the OS that should do the trick.

Thankz, but what do you mean by reload the os. Once i put the disk in and the os loads up and everything is back to normal, wat do i do to keep it from asking to insert the disk everytime i turn the mpc back on.

Since I can always put the disk in and it will work fine, its not a big deal. But it has never done this, so im just curious what might i have done, and wat can i do to avoid it. Because it was working fine for a year and last night, then this morning, this??? and im sure im not the only one who treats their mpc like a baby LOL. So i just wanna know whats wrong. Does anyone else know anything or have any ideas?

Just goto load, and press do it on the OS File.
It will rewrite it to the flash memory.
Just redo the OS install.

hm... that's strange the only reason a 2Kxl should ask you for a boot disk is when you have no os in the flash rom. By loading the os from a disk it will normally load in the flash rom and stay there even when the MPC is turned off. So my guess is there is something wrong with your flash rom, or the os was not loaded properly.

Thankz everyone. Does anybody have an idea how this might have happened. Is there a certain way your supposed to turn off the mpc, is there something that i must do before shutting it off? Ive always wondered if im supposed to erase everything in the memory(all the samples and sounds) before shutting off. Is that tru or does it matter?

If you turn off your mpc all sounds and sequences disappear automatically unless you have them stored in the (optional and expensive) flash memory.

iight, got it back to normal. I put the disk in and let the mpc automatically load the os, and then go to load and manually load it again.
Thankz everyone for the help
