Are those figures for real?

They're DIABOLICAL!

All the bottoms ones are stuck at the same value,
and the cut-off only reaches 6k !!!!!

AHINE!?!?

By misterv Tue Feb 22, 2005 10:46 pm
true that feline

a lot of these values are the same frequencies, that's really something Akai should work on

hey Haze, jus wonderin, you re american and livin in Japan ?

is it for military purposes ?

Orignially I`m from Newark, to Mobile, to Southern Cali, to Honolulu, then Osaka to Tokyo. Yeah at one point I was in the Air Force too. Now a brotha living and working at a local high school, I call or visit Akai in Yokohama time to time and hit up ishibashi music in Shibuya for the latest gear, music, and scene.

Living abroad is cool except for the leadup to Iraq and the anti-americanism started heating up.

What`s your story?

I don`t know how Akai service is in other countries but in Japan it is pretty straight. Email Akai Japan if you are suspect or just ignore the chart. To me the average human couldn`t hear below 20Hz anyway and when we filter the purpose is to cut the higher harmonics to the fundamental frequency isn`t it?

no, you mentalist, it isn't!

That's only LO PASS filters - the MPC4000 has dozens of other types.

And evryone can hear below 20Hz, duh! (Jeez, give people a little bit of science and they make really educated mistakes ;-) - it's only your cochlea in your inner hear can't go below about 20Hz - but you feel sound below that just with your sense of touch, using your whole body!

Moreover, they are completely wasting the resolution of the 1 - 100 steps if most of the bottom ones are all the same.

The resolution completely sucks - it's less than 7 bit -
the filter on my Sequential Circuits Sixtrak from 1983! has a better resolution than that - and the Sixtrak was a budget machine, not a flagship pro product!

I tend to see myself as a thinker assh*le and if you check your mixes and your mixing board you would see that most people don`t mix below 40hz if your mix is going to play on small speakers and that most home monitors threhold is at 30 hz unless you got your home theater is going to be pumping out sub bass which most people feel not listen to as a pitch. And there are differents filters of course for different purposes but in substractive synthesis LPF is the most common to substract with get it. Now I see why some others wanted to ban your ass and you got kick off the other board. See You got a complex about ps and qs not about how to use the functions. You can know the lists, names, and terms to a thousand physics equations but if you cannot put it into musical, laymens terms it doesn`t mean sh*t! Are you an engineer, musican or a bloody raving lunatic that full of nonsensical, self importance that is a nomad gets kicks off boards no matter where he goes. Anyways sometimes your non compos mentis posts doesn`t help others because you are incongruous cretin.

 Plus to show your creepiness or your witless remarks this is you in your own words

Too right I can give good head y'all.....

Yeah WHATEVER y'all -

fact is you retorted to me in a dismissive manner,
yet you were actually COMPLETELY FACTUALLY WRONG
And you still are.
And the MPC4000's filter implementation is still ahine!
Be seeing you...

Anyways, back to the subject in hand -
if you are signed up as a member of the MPC4000 Yahoo list at
http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/mpc4000/
and go into the "files" section,
you'll see filtertest.zip, an "Akai program and sample that demonstrates some possibilities and bugs of the sampler engine" posted by j0t0_0 in 2003.

It lets you hear just how ahine the filter at the edges of its range - check it out....

(Of course, we reported all this to Akai Unprofessional Inc back then, but did we get any response.....?)

Hmm Muppet, Mental, ring a bell cutthroat cretin. The fight over which works or not is daft. Your cuckoo, counter productive rancour is nondescriptive, non cooperative, and non compos mentis you human dreg. To share time with you is like a dreary pad with an recluse trnsvestite always catching feelings. Go salivate on a mule`s nuts YOU smug, smitten,CLB.

You did it to yourself I got no time for unreasonable, unpleasant, CLBs on a period the verdict is out you can be a dike. Once I let you slide with the little remarks but now let`s the users decide if the chart helps them or not.

Rather than let vermin like you destroy the assistance we give to each other I will keep going on assisting when I can CLB.

The little vestige of respect I had for you as a person with knowledge has diminish maybe you will learn something from this ding dong an try to be less of a deliberate s*h*i*t*t*e.

Your believe in you self importance is a fallacy and the more you daunt others with your expectional half truths the more your arguements falter.

What ARE ewe on about,
you overly-verbose hysterical little moomin?!?

You posted a chart which demonstrates quite clearly some current limitations in both the frequency response and the control-resolution of the MPC4000 digital filters -

- you then try to play down these limitations on the basis that "nobody can hear below 20Hz" anyways, which is
(a) irrelevent
(b) factually wrong

you then
(c) have a hissy fit.

I suggest you henceforth
(d) CALM YOUR JETS.

I disagree with you that is it. If you have an update, another so called accurate chart, or a bad day don`t pursue this trifling fit of yours any further. I assume that you are mordant CLB that can be mortified if others demystify the myopia you may suffer. The only sissy oh I mean hissy ( I`m lying) is you CLB. I don`t know if you can tell but you can be a bit like a infantile gloryhound only out to glorify the world his own insufferable, insular, overblown ,prissy, rote. CLB, CLB, CLB!!! Ha ha just writing a little skirt about a prissy, snivelling little man. **** off!! this thread and make your own you sordid wee little s*h*i*t*t*e.

like this in my old 2xl days.

Blue Haze could you tell me what is that engine u linked your 8outs to?

I want this one (describe it a few if you got time)...

and, that config was dope, why did u leave to a 4k!?!

By misterv Wed Feb 23, 2005 3:36 pm
thanks Haze for the precisions

I gues feline and you should stop wasting both your times as e-beefs are somehow irrelevant

I think Feline might have a point on the resolution

"Moreover, they are completely wasting the resolution of the 1 - 100 steps if most of the bottom ones are all the same. "

I mean, why make a 100 values with a lot of them being the same frequencies ?

The DTR was a Korg D12 I pick up 5 yrs ago now and I still have it for mobile recording with some nice korg effects. I believe the new model is D1200 but it only has four inputs and at the time is was enough for me. I now use Pro Tools digi 001 I had to calm myself down from that digi 002 trade in. Learn to use what I have first and stop starting the new year broke save, save, study, study yeah :D But to tell the truth the reason I first bought the 4k was because of a shortage of 8 outs (the lines you see were my korg ES tribe and my Triton Studio on the side) and the 4k was the only one Akai Japan had coming out at the time 1 1/2 yrs ago. So I thought effects, full sampler, better functions, way faster processor (2xl resample made me pull my hair out sometimes mannnn) and I got a special from a local store in Shibuya was 10 CDs, Custom Case, and 80GBs installed from the get go. I have to say the 2xl and the 4k sound different, work different, and are structured different and I had a learning curve to master coming from the 2xl. If you want to use it like a 2xl you can but you will miss out on alot of deep functions that lie within the beast. Full samplers are nice and creative.

Check this out http://www.onestopbeats.com/freedom1.html

I think this tells alot about crossing from 2xl to the 4k. :D
