a good time to start?

i've been making beats for about 4 years.. i don't feel like it's that long. i think some of the beats i make are quite nice, not all of them though. i really don't have any plans or goals aside from musical ones but i know how unreliable the area is.

do yall think it's too early to be trying anything? at least trying to get a buzz or something? my friend's been producing for about 7 years and he's trying to do things now.

i need some opinions 'cause i know experience and a good amount of time is needed to hone all of one's skill but i'm not exactly sure how long.. it seems like rappers spend about 10 years working on their art before they blow up or get signed to a good label. how about producers?

Even if you think your music isn't up to par with the big dogs still network and stuff. That way when you get your producing game up to where you want it you already know people.

If you never try to get out there how are you gonna know if you're really any good?Don't be a what if person.Just go for broke,knowhatimean?

Can't be too early. I've only been doing this for about a year and I've been doing some work. Just know you aren't going to get a record deal or whatever real fast.

yea i'm not really thinking about a deal right now.. i meant just selling beats to folks. i've had a few people rap over my beats but they're just friends, some rap/produce/DJ, some don't.. several people tell me my shit is cool but maybe i'm just not confident enough? i dunno.

Local. Nothing I've done has been put out yet because nothing's finsihed but it will be as soon as I get done.

its never to early. if its hot its hot and if its hot enough it will sell. i got my first beat machine about 3 months ago and i have already had offers from 300-1000 $s. i plan to seal the deal after my copyrights are confirmed. you might be missing out on some serious paper.

exactly...... I look at it this way....you can only do what you can do...and you cant compare yourself to everyone else and only focus on how they are better than you.... my stuff is not even close to where i dream of it being, but in a way i hope i never reach the point of complete satisfaction...
I've given a couple beats to one of my friends down in cali whos tryin to put together an album..i told him "if you want to do somethin over this....more power to ya..." and he called me up and was tellin me how hot it was...eventhough i thought it was complete crap..... so if he liked that one....it just motivates me to do better on the next one and come with somethin even hotter....

You gotta try to get out and network...it will be the source of your motivation

the people who dont understand the struggle/time/and effort its gonna take you to be a master of your craft....are really not important anyways...
