self installing upgrades???

ok, did the memory upgrade myself, basically i replaced the board labeled and rfesembling the one already in there, worked fine,
Now i am going to do the 3.01 upgrade and the scsi upgrade.hesitant about these because i am not just substituting chips..Help me out, any info is appreciated.

They come with good instructions, just be careful and take it slow and don't force anything unless you absolutly must.

How do you take a mpc 3000 apart? I wanna add some memory that I bought.

Lots of screws on the bottom around the edge and some on the back.

I just did my 3.10 and RAM upgrades last night.
Prying those O.G. O/S chips out was a nail-biter, but it all worked out.

I got the O/S and RAM from Route 66 and Sound Logic respectively.
They both took kind of a long time, around three weeks from the time of the order......then again their prices were cheaper than anyone else's.
Worth the wait.

It's SO much better of a machine with the 3.10. Get it.

Are there any features on the mpc60, that the 2kxl dont have?

4 midi outs, 12 bit sampling at 40kHz. a button based menu system, an arm rest, better build quality, better bass response, a bigger screen with a more elegant OS, a less cluttered panel, no open window weirdness, footswitch inputs, Echo send and return, some editing features are not present as well, like taking all c2 notes on a track and changing them to a4 or other note. But I am not sure about that last one, a guy was asking how to do that and he couldn't figure it out, might be possible.

That's all I can think of right now. What the 60 doesn't have that the XL does is a longer more impressive list on paper, but what the 60 has is more of a User Interface luxury, while the features of the XL are more along the lines of FX and editing stuff. Track mute is pretty cool.
