Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000
By switchbitch Fri Mar 18, 2005 6:31 am
Hi, im using virus indigo 11 with my mpc2000xl and I was wandering if there is anyone that could possibly tell me step by step how I store all the sounds and arrangement in multisingle mode etc to the mpc and then restore later when I want to work on same song? I tried doing a dumptx 'arrangement' but I dont understand what exactly it does. The request button on mpc does not give me the option to use. please help cheers

why do you want to dump it to the mpc?

why do you want to dump it to the mpc?[/quote]

Here is my situation-

1. Ive finished working on song(A) using mpc and virus
2.Now working on new song(B) with different sounds.
3.I want to store the multi single program in virus from song (A) with all parameter changes etc so I can recall later when I want to work on it some more.
How do I do this?

here's what i do..

when finished with a tune i cycle through all the sounds i've edited in multisingle mode and press the store button on each sound now all the parameter changes you have done should be saved, then i just save the aps. and the all. file on the mpc and everything i have recorded with midi, filtersweeps or whatever is saved, then next time i want to work on that tune i just load the aps. and all. file and go back to the old multi on the virus and everything should be where you left it

hope that helps

Sysex!

sysex will only crash your mpc and cause midi overflow. dont bother. either insert a program change in your sequences using the step key. or just set it on the main screens " pgm:" field. Above the track velocity. but if you want different version of the same patch to be recalled from the mpc's sequence files, im sure this is much more difficult and time consuming, but it can be done with sysex.

So do I have to write down the numbers of my 16 sounds and dial them up manually when I want to rework the song? is that what you do?

sorry i forgot to tell you you have to store the multi too..you know how to get to multisingle mode right? (pressing multi and single at the same time ). when you have saved each sound you've edited in multisingle mode
just press the multi button and store again now all the sounds you have selected and some other things is stored in that multi.

thanks for the help psitech. I was wandering though, once all 128 multis are used up, where do you store then? Do you store externally or just lose some songs?

there is a program called sounddiver i think you can use to store and edit sounds and and multis on the computer, you can download that program and some other stuff here..
