how do I make songs play/burn on my computer in mp3 format

Let me start off by sayin hello, and how greatfull I am to find a site like this.

Now to begin, yes i searched I found a thread but didnt answer all my quiestions, so here we go:

So, I have a few songs saved on the mpc 2000 xl & every time I try & hook up my external zip to my computer I do a:
Start,search,file find

And it comes up on my computer with the files I saved on the mpc as well as sequences, and songs

Well the seq & song’s each have a windows media logo next to it, all of the seq are saved as MIDI files so I can play them but they play realy fast.

When I try to play a song it says the player can not support the file.

My question is what can I do? So I can make all of my song's a windows media file so it’s playable( mp3 format) In a normal tempo as it was saved on the mpc. b/c for starters like I said it says the windows media doesn’t support the file so i can't even play it.

At the least I want to be able to make it a mp3 file so i can burn it


When i originaly loaded up the songs on the computer it asked what program I wanted to use to open it up. I had no idea so i used window's media now everytime I load up a song or sequence it automaticly has the w m logo next to it.

What you did was "associate" the MPC files to windows media player and now EVERY time you choose a file with that extension windows media player will jump into action.

You need to go MPC main out to PC line in.
Use audio editor to record that line in.
save as WAV when you are finished recording.
Burn the wav to an audio CD.
There, you have your song on audio CD.

what do you mean by mpc main out to pc line in? connect a usb (the bigger sized) from my mpc to my computer?

and is the audio editor stock on the mpc or do I have to download one?

Well, which MPC do you have?
Do you have a sound card on your PC?
Do you have the proper cables/adapters for the MPC main out left right connection to the PC's soundcard?

An audio editor has to be installed on your PC/MAC so you can record your song.

left right out on MPC to PC line in. No USB is involved.

ok, I have the 2000 xl

I have a pair of cables that have the headphone jacks on one end & audio jacks on the other end.

That is what I would need right?

For a soundcard im guessing i have the right thing I have 4 outlets on the back of the tower: black,green,red,blue

So i would connect from the stereo out L & R on the mpc to the black & red on the back of the tower correct?

as for the audio editor what would it be called the only thing I can think of that I have on my computer is the "Sound recorder" in the start menu under entertainment. If that is not it where could I buy/download the program?

Since I save the songs I have made on the mpc, once i shut it off & turn it back on the songs can't be heard. Would I be able to hear them once hooked up to the pc or is this a one shot deal?

Like you said you go from the outs of the mpc to the in's on the pc.But you need some sort of software program to actually record and edit.You need a multitrack software so that you can seperate tracks and some what mix/edit on the p.c.(Cool Edit,Nuendo,Vegas,Adobe Audition.....)

Yes sir.Do a search on here for software because there are links to sites for software you can download to use.

At this point multitrackin might be jumpin in a little too much.
Crawl before walking then later on full sprint with it.

I'm just assumin' he has a p.c so a software program is a must.I knew a kid that use to use that sound recorder and he was pretty good with it but software is just so much easier mixing/editing.IMO.

i would like to start out with somthing somewhat simple if I could download somthing like that for free that would be great if not,its not the end of the world my 7 days a week 12 hours a day can afford it
