what are you sayin? that turntable won't work? A built-in phono preamp and speaker allow convenient monitoring. thats what it says in the specs do you still need a preamp then? for the mpc 1k?

Just get a mixer bro, its worth it.

what you read in the manual is correct regarding digital sampling. turntables are not a digital source. Turntables are analog and if you look on the back of the mpc to the left you see "record in". If your turntable does not have a digital out, then you connect your TT to your mixer and the mixer to the L/R record in jacks. then on the mpc when you select mode+record make sure your input/source is selected to analog.

jus do what i did. get the vestax handytrax for about 100. got line out and l/r rca out. built in preamp and speaker. no point of buyin almost a whole dj setup if u dont kno how to dj. it even takes batteries so u can take it when u go diggin

works reall great wit da mpc 1000 becaus they're both portable units that both fit in one of those lockable metal record crates.
So basically i got everything i need in one little case. turntable, records, and mpc.

i just got a stereo pre amp for 40 dollars it's great it makes records sound very nice boosts the singnal just right and it's cheaper then buying a dj mixer.

I love the feel of the MPC. But, Im having problems with saving (or loading) the sample. I've hooked up my turntable to a stanton mixer to the Record In for the mpc1000. I've been taking the sample, and directly putting in on one of the pads. It sounds great. When I save, it says that I've saved as , i.e. Samples01, on to the Compact Flash, but when turning off then on again, I cant retrieve it. In fact, there is my Samples01 file in the CF. Is there a method that I should be doing instead? Am I supposed to retrieve it on the MAIN screen or somewhere else? I think i'm doing this all wrong...

Also, how do i end up retrieving the sample (and/or sequence) and converting it to a readable format to edit in either Logic or Cubase? It seems as though my Apple doesnt have a coversion program for .PGM. Most of my stuff is done on Logic, and I'd like to integrate all that together...I dont want to give up hope on my mpc b'cuz the sampler in Logic works great. Not sure, but could there be something wrong with my mpc?

Assign samples to pads in a program, save the program andthey'll be there when you load the program.The sample is in WAV format. Should be able to transfer via usb to Logic, Cubase. As for the sequence, you can put it in song mode and hit convert. This converts the sequence into one long WAV file.

In song mode, I've tried to convert the sequence, but when i hook up with usb, it still shows SONG sequence as .PGM. Am I doing something wrong?

I'll try the assigning of the pads later. Hopefully, I can work with the .PGM to .WAV now...
