been going back and forth between the 60 and the XL

and I've been finding it a lot easier making beats on the XL.

while I may sacrifice sound, the sample editing, zone slicing, instantly assigning samples to pads.

not that I'm ready to sell the 60, but just find that I get my ideas down faster with the XL.

hey man, different machines work for different people. Some people really need the extra sample time and features.

its def. gonna happen, 60 or 3k here i come.. and with my broke ass it might just be the 60 depending on the condition

it's not so much the sample time as it is the editing, the shift/decay slider thing works nicely, rather than sampling each chop on the 60, there's the zoning of course..

again, not giving up on the 60 though, probably just going to go back and forth depending on my mood.

yeah, I don't get the multiple MPC thing, but I guess it would be a mood based thing most of the time.

You can chop up o0n the 60 with the copy zone function, you don't have to sample it individually, but it can be useful to do so, I tend to do it like that on my emax, as copying samples then editing is really quite slow, but not impossible.

I have both here side by side and I conclude the opposite.

The 60 really is the tits, though. I dig the way the 60 makes snares crack.

I would post it publicly, but the vocal sample in the intro of it is TOO flowers ILL AND WOULD MOST LIKELY GET BITTEN IMMEDIATELY. I would consider biting this vocal sample if I hadnt sampled it already, and honestly Im shocked no one has sampled this yet.

I've tried the copy zone thing but it didn't quite work out for me, I'll have to look into that more then...

Heh, thanks guys. Im still learning it there is so much in this thing. What you need to do is you take a sample that you want to chop, then you set your sample time to 0.1 second and sample nothing (silence) save the sample and do it a few times (for as many chops as you need).

The go to the main sample in the edit sample page, set the play button to play zone, and set the zone on what you want to extract. Once you got it, hit copy zone to temp, then go to one of the blank samples, the zone should be set to .100 on both start and end, then shif the do it button to paste temp to zone start or end whichever you want. once that's copied, you just set the soft start and soft end how you want it, and you can delete the silent 0.100 that you started with.

I'm quick with that now. It sounds more complicated than it is.

i do all my chopping on cool edit pro and them dump it into either the 3000 or the asr 10

ahhh, didn't know that 0.100 thing, now that you mention it, I remember that when I tried copying to a new sample, a small chunk at the beginning would get cut off.

lemme try it again...

That depends all on your zone settings, you need to play zone so you hear what you are chopping, its an elegant system.
