Static (Humming) While Playing...

I did not notice this but when I play I recive static (Humming) from my mpc. This only happens when I have my 1k hooked up through a mixer into a PA, my Mixer, and my M-Audio Interface. Although when I have my headphones hooked up in all the out put jacks I don't hear any static / humming at all. Has anyone notice this with there MPC? If so how can I fix this problem? I think its when its not grounded but I couldn't tell you. Please reply to this. Thank you for all your support.

My O.S. is the latest, if that matters.

if you have a bunch of stuff plugged up in your room, its bound to happen.

example: normally i have no noise from my mpc. but when i sample stuff from my tv it has CRAZY grounding noise. however, if i disconnect the outs from my 1000 from my patchbay (which is conencted to my computer) then the noise goes away.

i doubt anything is wrong with your mpc. too many things plugged in at once eventually starts to generate some noise. you might want to try plugging some of your equipment into different outlets (maybe on the opposite side of your room).


i'm sure someone else can break this down more scientifically for ya.

Yeah man Thats what I figured... All the equipment together something is bound to cause a static state. Thanks Peace...

bypass the mixer and plug your MPC directly into the M-Audio.

I tried that man....
Its wierd sometimes it hums sometimes is doesn't... But when I have headphones hooked up it to the MPC it doesnt hum at all

I got a Furman power strip and it cleaned up all of my noise. Spend some money on a good power strip/conditioner... It should help

i'm thinking jiggle the wires inthe spockets a little bit. that's even happen to me with headphones. only for a split second or minute though

Nah Man I pretty sure its to do with the power and all the other equipment in the house causing a ground problem... Thanks though...

YEah okay I figured out the problem... I was loosing my ground connection which would cause a hum... I switched the faulty power strip with a new one and complete silence.... Thanks for all your help...

i actually have the same problem only that it happens when i connect it to my layla sound card....im using mono cables for the stereo outs...one cable for each out...someone said that i need to get balanced audio cables to resolve the problem...any one got a clue on wut i should do?

You can put a transformer in the audio path to isolate the ground. I
have to use this between my mac mini and my mixer (or disconnect the display )
I bought mine at a swedish equivalent to radio shack for $15. HIFI stores carry them, too (better but more expensive). I think most DI boxes do the same thing. Check schematics.

so a transformer would do the trick?...now if i wanted to use all 4 outs do i need a seperate transformer....:'( god im so confused...the guy at radio shack tried selling me ONE balanced cable for 15 bucks i was like get the fuuuuuuuuck out of here
