EB-16 Vs Ecternal Processor

Hey everyone, I want to add FX's to my drums. If I have the 8 out would it be better to just get a external processor? I ask this because it seems that for the $250 price tag of a EB-16 you could get a processor with a lot more features (fx's). But mabey im missing something about the EB-16 that puts it above the external units.

For that price u can get a DR Sample SP303 (with a few more bucks), it loops, resample, fx, wah-wah, phases, flanges... If you are a beatmaker this device will maybe help you a lot. If you are a musician the eb 16 would be good.

I would have to say somethin' external.That much money you can buy somethin' that's easier to manipulate and gives you more options,E.Q.,Filter,Reverb,GAte etc.etc.

Yeah I was leaning towards external, I make Dance music and D+B so I cant use dry drums, now the next part of my question, Do you have any recomendations for a external processor?

u get 2 multi fx and 2 reverbs with the eb16, so you have to take into account how many effects the external processor will offer simeltaneously. most old racks offer only one stereo effect or 2 mono's. the ensoniq dp4+ in my opinion is great. i have used the standard rolands and yamaha too. for an in the box option you cant go wrong with the eb16. saves having to lugg around extra leads and racks of effects.

I bought my mpc with the eb16. I use it on every track....not to many options but definatly worth it if you can pick up a used 1

its ok, pick one up for s/h 150 and its well worth it,...

few reasons

its built in, "portable"

saves all you fx within the box !!!

can automate FX easily within the MPC

4 indipentant FX (like two exsternal ones)

honestly being able to call up a Reverb or a delay every now and then and have it saved within your sessions wherever you go is well worth the 150 in the long run isn't it ...

i agree man for that price you can get some outboard effects processor like you said that does a lot more then just those few effects...

How many external processors give you 2 stereo channels of up to five multi-effects? Most every external gives you a single stereo of only two effects. That is a fraction of what the EB-16 can do. On top of that you also get two addition stereo reverb processors.

That is a total of four separate effects processors. That is less than $100 each. So what is the better deal?

i swear by my eb16. i make beats with just the 2000, so it helps to have effects right there. I get those kicks and basslines thumpin fa real.
Im pretty good with the filter too. Reverbs is pretty good if used in moderation. I almost feel lost on a mpc with no effects lol.

I'm with Nano, glide, 3000 and dstruct on this one. I swear by the card too. Before I used to have to run a sample through sound forge, add the effect(s) then sample it to the mpc. Now I do it all on the MPC. And 5 effects at one time??? You can't beat that with a prosthetic leg. Cats complain about the card, yes. But the only thing I can fathom about complaints is that they only f*ck with the presets and don't know how to tune the sh*t themselves. I live by the EB's filter(eq) and reverb.
