ive put together a little cleaning/servicing kit for my studio:

i keep this in a small tacklebox where i wont lose it. id love any suggestions of other stuff that might come in handy if youve got em.

its pretty important to clean and protect your contacts (where plugs/cables go) so look into a good contact cleaner! thats my advice. oh and i dont really care about cosmetic damage, scratches come and go, and i customise her anyway.

as for girlfriends and gear, well i did the diplomatic route and sat my girlfriend down one evening and explained it all... an hours talk about how it all works, and the basics of Dont Blow It Up, and she is down.

I do circuit bending and I find nail clippers invaluable, they are usually tiny enough to get in there where most wire cutters are too big to go, and if you get good ones they can clip wires no problemo.


also, those things girls use to do thier eyelashes, make good clamps that dont damage stuff (I yanked one of my lady's one time and never gave it back. hahahah "oh really? you lost them? I dont think it was at my place....." hahahahaha)

MY MPC HAS A DUST SPEC ON THE SCREEN

Help! What do I do?? Anyone have this problem? The spec is under the front plastic but appears to be on top of another layer...anyone know?

Open up the MPC and use compressed an air to blow it out.

The first time my girl came to my house.. I said this is my baby.. if you don't touch it and **** it up you could be my baby 2 ..

it's like..first you tell them that she and het lipgloss fingers can't touch shit..and then you tell she's cute...

i got al my gear coverd with a big dust cover (it came with the MPC like the protection cover for the boz..it works great.. and on my vacum cleaner I use the lil brush for the MPC..and q-tips 4 between the pads!!

If I smoked a cig I always wash my hands before touching my baby!!

I own several MPC's. Whenever I am done for the day with any of them I wipe them with a clean damp cloth. I blow off any dust with a can of compressed air. Occasionally I vacuum the entire unit with the brush attachment. When I am not using a machine it is kept covered with plastic. Don't use cloths--they leave fibers. I always use the machines with clean hands. Some MPC's have dirty pads. Mine never will be like that.

How does this compare with treating my girl? When I am done with her am I supposed to wipe her with a damp towel and then blow her off with a can of compressed air?

Here is a well cared for MPC2000XL that was cleaned regularly with Windex for the last year...

That's classic right there..

My girl will sometimes clean my MPC and other gear when she's cleaning the house. It's NEVER dirty anyway but she will still dust, inspect and rotate tires anyway.

This might be a stupid question, but I will open my MPC2000xl for the first time tomorrow and have a question:

I've bought a can of compressed air. Can I use it directly on the electronics? So I can just spray like a maniac to get all that dust of, or do I have to spray it just on the non-electronics parts? (like corners, the metal cover etc)

Give it a spray or 2 to make sure any moisture is out of the nozzle, make sure only air is coming out, then go ahead and spray whatever you like, it's only air.
