I like the proteous 2000, I don't have one, but I have liked the sounds that I have heard come from one so I won't knock it. But my only complaint is that the roms are becoming expensive as hell.

your stuff will sound like lil jon and jazze pha. which could be good or bad. i personally hate the proteus unless its used in a particular way that is more musical than the way producers these days have been using it.

I don't agree with that. Just cause you have somthing that someone else has doesn't mean you will sound like them. Kanye, alcheimst, netpunes, timberland all use the ASR do they sound the same.

Or what about lil john, havoc, neptunes, just blaze all have a triton do they sound the same.

or even this one
Every god damn person on here has a MP do they sound the same. Its not the geat its the person behind it

the proteus is very good... its better in some areas than others but you can do a lot with the sound editing, etc. im trying to sell mine to make a little more room in my studio, email me if you want one in mint condition with all original packaging and materials for $350

I'm getting a good deal. The PROTEUS 2000 w/ mo'phat rom for $300. What yall think?

By benlewismaverick Thu Apr 14, 2005 10:21 pm
Sounds good, if you've the cash handy I would.
Mo'Phat sound module is the contemporary don bing of commercial hip hop so you can expect the kinda sounds you'd get. Think Missy Elliot and Timba. Only downside is that theres a danger that in a week that style might not b cool nemore....

Dude.

Spend some cheese on a universal patch editor / librarian for your mac.

$150.00

Still a good deal. $350 proteus + $150 software...

i agree w/ that to a certain extent, but all the gear you mentioned is largely sample based (save the triton which does indeed make a lot of peoples stuff sound the same). its different when you choose your own sound source than with a sound module. the proteus is cool for running samples through, but i havent heard anyone do this. get one and see if you can innovate, hell whynot.

Check out the Emu Proteus X if you have a computer. It's a softsynth that runs off a PCI card. It's $150 and has all the original 2000 sounds, plus you can get the MoPhat sounds etc.

I really struggle to believe why some people make music because it's the 'cool' style at the time. What the **** is that all about? Its pathetic
