Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

I have been recording into my MPC with the digital in for some time. But decided today to output the audio thru the digital out. I hooked up the coax from the MPC digital out into my MOTU 828II digital in. I was getting no audio out. The MPC in was working fine. As far as I can tell the MOTU cuemix was correct. What am I missing here? Do I need so set something in the MPC or does it output digital by default anyway?

Thanks

If you have the digital in/out you must have the 8 outs board. I'm pretty sure the digital out is just the same signal that comes through the stereo outs, so if everything in your current program is assigned to one of the 8 outs that could be the reason ........ I only use the stereo in so cannot confirm this....

the sound will play out of the digital by default. Check the motu and make sure it is set for the digital in.

ive got the same prob.. and im starting to think its the mpc:s hardware. althougt. u must set it to recieve at 16bit 44.1khz as this is the output format for the mpcs spdif. i have m-audio 2496 and i have goit the digital in to work, but no luck with the digital out. i was told that if you plug an out into the out you can fry the digital output. i think maybe rippd one night i accidently did this.

I did get it to work. It was a setting in cuemix. The only thing now is the output volume. When I use the analogue outs I apply the 10db boost (im guessing this is the correct thing to do?) - but the SPDIF doesnt have a boost option, so the output is very low compared to everything else. What do I need to do to get the output higher?

go to the mixer, then press set up, then change the output setting to +6 or +12 db. The 8-outs and the digital out work independent of the volume knob on top of the mpc.
