Triggering the Akai S950

Can I use my MPC 2000XL to trigger the S950? And if yes, then how so?

yes, you do it by reading the manual. this is basic stuff.

Since it's basic stuff, i'm qualified to explain this one

Run a midi cable from the mpc's midi-OUT A, to the s950's Midi in. Set a track on the mainscreen to "midi - A 1". Load some samples into the 950 and make sure it's set to midi channel one as well. Run the audio outputs of your 950 to your amp or desk.

Note that the mpc's pad layout is not in the same order as a normal keyboard, so if you're assigning drumsamples to a single note/pad in the 950 have a look at this: http://www.mpc2000xl.com/pads.htm
