How are you proud of owning an XL?

Hi peeps,

As there's so much blah blah bout the 60/3000 vs 2000/XL, I would like to have your opinion on why XL's users made this choice.

1) Were you ignorant at the time you bought your MP?
I mean, we "should" know that there're others MPCs that "better" than the XL !

2) Are XL's users all brokass at a point that we all can't afford a 60/3000?

3) Now, assuming that most of you used the XL since Y2K, are you ready to moove for an other MP?

4) How many of you are really disappointed, and feel tht they've to sell their XL for a 3000 ( u know, 3K's banging so much )?

5) How many will moove for a 60/3000 instead of a 4000?

6) How many will never downgrade for a 60/3000 (if you feel it as a downgrade), but will upgrade for a 4000?

7) As the XL is Akai's MPC top selling, how many user get ripped off?

Give your opinion, tell us how you love your 2000/XL so much!

6) I've already bought a 60....and to be honest, it's only a matter of time before I sell it. (how's that for going against the grain?)

7) None, as long as it's right for the individual.

I dig the XL because I just relate to how the O/S is set up and am addicted to some of its features. I really can't go back and live without visual waveform editing - if that makes me a whimp, then so be it. I started on a S2000 and then SP1200, so I HAVE been without it before.
Also, Zone chopping is key for me - I don't really wanna chop on a PC program, so Zones is perfect for me.
Bottom line is, I'm so used to the XL now, that I'm fast on it and don't need to think. I don't wanna switch trains now that mine is speeding down the track. Half the reason that many older producers still use the 60/3000 is that they wouldn't wanna learn and get used to a whole new machine. This applies to me and the XL.
As far as the sound....there are other ways to beef up and dirty up a sample other than just relying on the bit depth of the machine.

Why should it be? I read so much post tht denigrated the XL, tht make me wan hear from users.

I like evrything about the edit fonction of the XL, and the OS. It act just like a computer... and I don't like to edit my sounds via DAW, so it's all OK!

itchy, seems like we're only two that like/proud of the XL!!!

I love the XL. That's the only thing I use, no comp or any of that. I sample into it and chop with ease. Like Itchy, I know where everything is and can get through all the screens with easy, so right now I'm not trying to have anything else.

I love the XL to, i did alot research before buying it. i read the manual a lot of times to know exactly what i could expect from the MPC and what not. i never worked with a 3000 or a 60 and i dont think i could. i really need the visuals to zone the samples and to look at where the small clicks and pops are to remove them. for me timstreching is a must. an Xl has its limits (like no bandpass and highpass), but in my opinion its possible to use it standalone (i do it). as far as i 4k goes: i dont have the money, but if i could buy it i would, its a beast! i would still keep the XL because i love the basic, strait forward OS, and i'm starting to like the limitation just to see how far i can push it.

Very good point. It's not just being lazy and not wanting to edit by ear.

Plus I def like the "nu" screen look! How could you work 4-5 hours str8 wit the old 60/3000 screen? Man, I look @ my S1000 (that I like real bad), and ask myself: "how could they do?" I'm using the S1000 for sampling str8. Noway I'll spend more than 1 hour on this kind of screen!

i cant say why i luv mine, yet. cuz i've only scratched tha surface (it stopped working a few months ago. just took it to get it fixed today)

Whoa! a few months ago I hope you'd sumthin to replace it...
Now tht she's back, load sum drmz & samplz and tell us whut really good with the XL!

Man, everything I attempt to, I do with it. Sometimes I have to keep power off (once I'd to put the XL back inna box ), to use another drummachine!!! The XL is so easy to work, tht really amazing! It's remind me easiness of my SP

i wanted to upgrade to another mpc but i changed my mind. i didnt think it would make any sense to downgrade to something like a 3000 if it doesnt have all the features a xl has. id rather wait on the 4000 because i dont wanna spend no money plus i really dont need it. ive neva phukked wit a 3000. i had a dude that had one he was tight on it but i really dont know anything other than the xl and the 2000. i thought about one of those rackmounts (s2000, s950). im good wit mine. i really aint that excited. ive played wit the 1000 but im not feelin it. i wouldnt get one if i didnt have a xl. ive wanted to get ma hands on a sp 1200 though.

I'm thinking of becoming a proud MPC 2000xl owner.
