Have you tried the footswitch?

Anybody on this board is using a footswitch with their MPC3000/60?

I plugged a standard keyboard sustain pedal into my 3KLE today and set it up to control the TIMING CORRECT and I feel it's much more confortable stomping on a pedal than reachin for the TC button with my right hand when I need a drum roll in real time.

I think for under $10 is a great option for any MPC.

how do u do this with the time correct ?

In Play/Rec mode you can get a roll holding both the TIMING CORRECT button and the pad with the sound you prefer. You have to set a quantization value (8th, 16th or 32th + triplets and swing when available). I literally abuse this feature, with kicks, snares, claps, hats, whatever.

With the footswith controlling the TC button you only need one hand to do this. One more thing you can do is to hold a pad and tap on the footswitch when you want the sound assigned to it to swing in time - have to give it a try, almost makes you feel like a proper drummer!

good call.. can u assign the pedal to turn tracks on/off ?

I have 2 footswitches on my 60, one for overdub and the other for play stop, but the play stop one doesnt get too much use, I migh have to switch it to TC and mess with the rolls.

Nay, it's only Play, Rec Overdub, +, -, >, < and Timing Correct on the 3000. You press the "OTHER" button on the upper right grid and choose one (it's actually two, as the footswitch inputs).

the drum roll is kinda wack.. not much fun lol

i rather just bangin it out on the pads

Question

I want 2 interfere with my soundscapes. i got a 3000. vinyl and a turntable.

if I buy a sustain pedal. connect it to footswitch input. Will I be able to sustain notes I've sampled to the pads.

example: I play a note on the pad. Press the sustain pedal. Let go of the pad. sound sustains?

No. U need a MIDI keyboard w/sustain pedal 4 dat.

I have been using the foot switch since the day i got my MPC 3000 LE, and i honestly could not live with out it....

Get ur TC set right hold ur foot on the pedal and then stab the pad watch and see how punchy your kicks and snares get.....

I do alot of dance music and this is a life saver TRUST ME!!!!

the timing correct doesn't need a footpedal to work?
I'm not hating, i'm just iterested what it actually does when set to timing correct

I suppose it's just having that extra hand free helps you get a handle on things, try it and you'll see much better hold TC button and doing it..

Sometimes i felt i was going to push the TC button through i was pressing it so hard, LOL!!!!

Woah, this thread is OLD... I almost forgot I ever posted this

The TC pedal control is a killer, I'm forced to use Apple Logic these days and I miss the MPC's ease of use... although it's a 20yo design the MPC is WAY ahead of Logic's Ultrabeat drummachine for sampled drums. I can't even layer two drum hits on UB, now how bad is that?!

is it normal or inverted phase on the footswitch to the mpc3K?
(emax has inverted while the eps is normal)
