Card readers (Addonics, Synchrotech & Amtron)

Any opinions why one would be better than the other?

Just so you know ;

ive talked to numerous ppl from aus and nz that have ordered the addonics card reader from one of the above mentioned site. but it needs the seperate pcmica adaptor and once you get the unit shipped and get a decent size card your up for pricey upgrade fee.

(I did a bit of searching and stumbled upon this)
The Ultra DigiDrive does ship with the pcmcia adapter bundled (from addonics.com). But for some reason the Australian distro doesn't include it, and charges $56 to buy it seperately .
If I do the Addonics route, I'll just order from the US .
But looking at the new MCD models, they seem to have the Amtron / IISDMC card reader installed (as most people do from what i've seen on the net) - That might be the better way to go .


Anyone else have any info ?

I've done EXACTLY what's found in my first sig link and I'm a happy
person. I had an internal 250zip on my 2kxl, now cf reader and it works
flawlessly and only 15 minutes of effortless work.

Same here, synchrotech works like a charm.

So when you go sychrotech, do you need the mounting kit also? I'm confused.

Nah . Not for the mpc .

any place i can find these in Europe(GER/UK/NL/ITA/SPA)?

ive found those pcmcia adaptors on ebay for like $5.. so if you can pick one of them up cheap go for it.

You're talking about the actual multi card reader right??? Or do you need something else to get the multicard reader to work in the mpc? Sorry, I'm not exactly the most technologically inclined person in the world.....
