painting 3k armrest

has anybody tried painting the rubber armrest? i know forat does them so its not impossible. what kind of paint do i need to use? im too cheap to buy a new one and its a **** to keep clean anyway

id just clean it with a relativley strong cleaner, painting that shit will wreck it.. paint will wear, become sticky, scratch, collect dirt

yeah, paint on rubber is a bad idea,

when i first bought it, the armrest was in real bad shape. the previous owner wrote stuff on it and it was badly discolored, so i sanded off a layer but now its dirty from my elbow grease and sweat. i should look into getting it wrapped in leather

maybe forat sells them wood trim's they got on some of there modded 3k's

too expensive. id rather make my own

Yeah man, Forat isnt gonna help you DIY,

isopropyl rubbing alcohol did the trick. the arm rest looks good as new. also worked excellent for getting all the fringer grime off the metal panels

how do you dismantle the armrest fr a 3000?
Is it some screws in the back?

its attached by 3 screws from underneath

You want to use an Acrylic paint....preferably latex to paint on leather and or rubber......simple as that!
