Just wanted to make a public confession. I've been having an affair with Mistress 60 without my 3k knowing. Even though they live next to each other, I pull the power plug out of the 3000 so she doesn't hear me banging the pads on the 60. Mistress 60's pads are real soft and her 12bit groans sound real nice but I'm leavin her. She is very impatient when it comes to sample time, multiple program loading and having to use her and the S950 is nice but just not for me. I started out on the 3k and she seems so much easier and faster for me to use. Jeam is pondering the purchase of my reject, but if that falls through then she ready, willing and avaliable for the most qualified suitor.....

havin 2 mpc's is weird, so is selling the gear you started on, totally respect that choice. You're a good man for takin care of it and now sending it to a good home.

word up em...you know from our previous conversations that I was just interested in the 60 and wanted to test it out for fun. Don't get me wrong...the 60 is dope. I'm on the 3k right now and was on the 60 about 45 mins ago. I'm using the same sample and drum kit that I had on the 60 and everything sounds so much different. Try sampling a 808 kick on the 60 and then the 3k. I just did and the 60 kicks you in the chest while the vibrations from the 3k make my ears rattle. I'm gonna miss the 60, but hey, thats why I have a maxed S950 and a Roland W-30.

Yeah dude, you got 12 bit covered, whats funny is that 8 bit punches harder than 12, but there aren't any good 8 bit samplers around really. Maybe you should do a timing test between them so people can shut up about it already.

60 and 3k got the same swing by my ears....i done both on 1/16 at 57...1/32..1/8 with whatever swing you want...no swing...no quantatize..sound the same to me..but...there is something about that 60. Not the swing...just the noises it makes....kinda like "boom boom...crack..."

You know you should really keep the 60 right?

60/3k use the same timing algorythm according to Bruce.

Shouldn't sound any different in terms of swing. They feel different though because of the SOUND difference.

Yeah Em, I know I should keep the 60. Maybe I'll cop another one someday. Who know's, I might not be able to get what I paid and end up keepin it.

I did not know the 950 have scsi. Do you have to install it or does it come factory installed? What kind of SCSI do you have to use, anything specific. If it has to be installed who or what company will do it.

Came factory installed. My 1st S950 didn't have it and my 2nd one came with it. Funny though..me and Mike Dean can't get the damn things to work. The SCSI works on mine, but the digital in hasn't yet. Don't know where you can find the card but I think the part number is IB-109 or something close to that. Just try to cop a broken S950 for cheap and rip out the card and install it in yours....

Oh..I use my S950 with a regular zip drive..SCSI HD or a SYQUEST HD...

i was in the same situation as you, i had a 60 mk2 and a 3k, i ended up selling the 60 and coppin a s900, now i got 2 s950's with on that too, ive been finding them cheap around here lol..
the 3k and a s950 is unstoppable if you like 3.10, like the 12 bit and 16 bit sound, best of both worlds! once you get used to the speed and filters on the 3k its hard to leave them

keep an eye out for a good deal on a mk1 for "keeping"... when u can afford that luxury

thats what I also thought a 3000 and a S950 is like a 60 with more potential.

Most 60 users have a S950, or is it only me that thinks that?
