A lot of 60 users have a 950, it was a very popular sampler.

I pointed this out in the other thread, but bexides the 12 bit sound, the 60 has a better layout. It is an expensive layout, and the 3000 layout is more cramped with the data wheel above the transport and the command buttons at the top back of the machine. The 60 has all controls except Master volume and contrast on a 7 inch horizontal strip right across the main panel of the machine, the 3000 has a vertical strip on the right side of the machine, taking some controls away from you, so even though it is a smaller machine, you need to cover more to use it. I used to sweat the screen over the pads, so you can see the bars by looking strsight, but with the heavy use the soft buttons get I realized the 60's screen above all the commands and arrows makes more sense.

I guess you might get used to it, but having all the controls right there in your face and at your finger tips adds to the experience. I still think people underestimate what you can do with short sample time. And I think the layout affects how you work somewhat. maybe SLT can compare, but I've had to use a 3000 and it was fun, really cool that I know how to get around it from the 60, and having filters is cool, but after using it day in day out I was really missing my 60 and rushing back to use it, the 3000 looks like they put stuff where it fit, the 60 actually had the space for them to think about where they put the controls.

Point is, they cut corners on both machines, you really don't feel it as much as you do on the other MPC's, They are both the best made MPC's in my opinion, but me being very process oriented, feature lists are not always the top priority, and UI is pretty important to me, probably a small point to most. But why is it that so many who sell their 60 want to get another one in the future?

That said, if I couldn't have a 60, I would use a 3k, Roger Linn is a genius and it shows in these machines.

Something Like That wrote:Came factory installed. My 1st S950 didn't have it and my 2nd one came with it. Funny though..me and Mike Dean can't get the damn things to work. The SCSI works on mine, but the digital in hasn't yet. Don't know where you can find the card but I think the part number is IB-109 or something close to that. Just try to cop a broken S950 for cheap and rip out the card and install it in yours....

Oh..I use my S950 with a regular zip drive..SCSI HD or a SYQUEST HD...

Yeah..I can get the Digital I/O to work but not the SCSI. I got some EEPROMs coming from VST so maybe that will fix the problem.

A genius indeed he is brother MAC....a genius indeed.....BUT we still havent made SLT feel BAAAAD enuff about even CONSIDERING selling his MAIN squeeze YO!!! Come correct man!!!

You mentioned her layout & Dimensions....p'pow boom PING!!!! 60 is the one man....

Last point....many ppl who've had & sold their 60's for whatever reason....have always lived to regret it. At the time they contemplate selling....they say 'I'll prolly get another 1 in future' ....

BUT consider this...with every moment that passes...the 60 becomes more & more of a 'Cult-Status- machine & therefore more rare...& invariably MORE expensive.

The 3000 is in much wider circulation so therefore...easier to find & purchase...should you ever feel you need 1....

Just my RAMBLINGS.....

BTW....SLT...Dont even TALK to me if you see m on here... (selling yo' wife like thaat....'Shame on a Nuh')

Last time I checked the 3000 was more expensive than a maxed out 60 too.

Theres always a 60 for sale either on ebay or somewhere else so its just as easy to find a 3000 or 60.

SLT bought ready to sell his baby...& he got Jaem & Red just linin' up to TAKE his 1 TRUE LOVE (Lust...you chose)!!!

Damn...I need to get out more

SLT we NEED to talk!!!

SLT, I'd love to get that 60 off you, but I have to agree with Humble,.... THINK THINK THINK and THINK again very carefully before you dump it, as you may regret it like I'm startin to. Don't get me wrong I LOVE my 3k, but I miss my 12 bit heatmakers dirty dirty soundz. I can get the 12 bit 'sound' but there's a little more work involved. On the 60, as you know, I can sample whatever in to it, and out comes the 12 bit grit. Anyway, lemme know what you decide.

I don't know, SLT startd on the 3000, it's hard to sell the piece you learned on, so I can't fault him for letin go of the 60 based on sentimental reasons.

It's harder to find 60's in good condition, and they you have to max them out and shyt, Having a maxed out 60 is really tight, buying one to max out is a bit of a waiting game and can be a bit of a hassle.

Definitly easier to get a 3000, but your first MPC? Only one of those, so if SLT is sentimental it is harder.

Also, fuk cult status, these are tools, if someone likes one over the other, then it's cool, but it's funny because us 60 guys have an uphill battle becaus everybodys on about features and sample time etc etc. and it's hard to explain it to people. the 3000 has props from all the pro's using it and most people know that it gets more props than the 2000, but the 60 is easy for people to dis spec wise until they use it and understand the magic.

One other good reason, the best reason I think to keep the 3000 is that Rohan and Mike are updating the OS still, so new features will pop up for the 3k, maybe nothing huge, but maybe some really cool things. That's the only thing about the 3000 that I sweat now, is that the two biggest MPC geniuses this side of Roger Linn are adding stuff to the software.

Ok, I admit it, Redgreenz is payin me to convince SLT to sell the 60 ;)

LOL, thanks El. Nah, on tha real, SLT, don't sell it unless you are sure. Like I said, I'll take reall good care of her and I won't sell her off... like I did mine :( She will, however, be sent off to Forat for new paint and pads, but thats it. In all honesty, SLT, I think you should keep it, especially if it's ya first MP. But if you're not the sentimental type, FUK it, I'll take it!!!!!

LOL. Nah Humble, no reverse psychology. I just wanna make sure that SLT is aware of what a jewel the MPC 60 can be, before he just dumps it. But, if he's had it for a while, I'm sure he already knows.

SLT, GET AT ME!!!!!!!
