When i power up without the floppy it just says "Insert MPC2KXL boot disk!".
Maybe with the "Save" menu -> copy OS and do that on the F-ROM?
The again I thought the F-ROM was that expensive option, and I don't have it installed...
So you mean it should boot from an internal ROM or something?
All the peeps i know have 2K's, not XL's, and they boot from either ext ZIP or floppy.
I've been working with this floppy for ages, never really thought of another way until the cardreader issue came up.
Ripple,
Cypher is right, you should not have to boot from a floppy disk. What you need to do is this:
1. Insert the disk and boot up your 2k as usual
2. Hold down the 'SHIFT' key and press the number 3 key (LOAD)
3. Make sure that the DEVICE field is set to FLOPPY
4. Use the data wheel to select the MPC OS that's on the floppy
5. Now press F6 (DO IT)
The MPC will now copy the OS to it's internal ROM. Remove the floppy and store it somewhere safe!
You don't need to purchase the F-ROM just to store the OS.
Lemme know if ya need further assistance.
