U might have a faulty drive itself then. Go to any PC store and get another drive, it should cost about $10-$15. Hopefully it's not your actuall floppy cause u might lose you data on it and that would suck. It's happened to me many times. Everything I do now I back up in a couple of different ways to prevent losing stuff, mainly using CDRW.

Yeah I was thinking of doing this. Will any floppy drive work? Is there any in particular that's better suited for the MPC? What about if I purchased an internal Zip 250 and installed that, would that work? Sorry for all the questions, I just want to know all my options. I went to one place today and they tried to tell me 200$ to replace the floppy. F*ck outta here. Thanks for your help duke.

yowie mane, just go ahead and spring for an internal zip with the akai kit, yow mean?...it'll save you alot of headaches in the long run....you aint gonna get nothing done with that there floppy, mane.....

im not even sure how a shop can charge you for a floppy these days man.
anywhere you see old nasty pcs for super cheap (wharehouse wholesale sells used pcs for like 1$ for the whole thing) just ask em if you can take the floppy out for 1$ instead or possibly free or something. im not sure if any brands are better then others but then again its hard to tell the brand name on a floppy. most dont have that stuff on them.
now i haven't installed a floppy in the mpc, but when i installed the ram on the mpc its pretty much a motherboard, just like in yer pc. so i imagine if you know what your doing on a cpu you can install the floppy pretty easy...
floppies are like legos pretty much, no master slave jumpers r nuthin.
im just asuming installing the floppy will be the same if not a little bit diffrent then installing on pc. if you can do it yourself you probably save alot of cash. also you might try google for step by step instructions on floppy install. google is full of pc help like that. if your lucky itll have pictures! hope that helps >_<

You and I be like heavy preaching the internal ZIP gospel but I know
people are scared of it cause of all the problems they here about with 250's. Still they can go to a 100 with damn near 1% failure rate.
Most of the times I refuse to jump on the bandwagon but it's worth it with ZIP IMHO.

Amen bruhmane , its like mad embarrassing trying to load up some beats with a dang floppy when your peoples are waiting to hear something....When I had my floppy it was like I hated trying to load up programs and shit...by the time I get to the 8th disk I be like"awww flowers it, i'ma go make a samwich or watch some tv or something", yow mean? that internal zip made my day just like them there 32 mb..but sheeiit I might just flowers around and get one of them there CF reader things, yow mean, mane?

Yeah Swiss I was thinking about that too. I can easily get the internal 4 card reader for my PC and figure out how to transfer files on the cards or whatever I gotta do with it..
