no to throw any hate, but the MPC has been getting killed for the last 10-15 years and its still here. It ain't going no where anytime soon.

I scoff at you and spit on that piece of trash. haha
for real though...ain't nothing going to kill the mpc. There's nothing like loading up some sounds on the pads and bangin out a beat with your hands. No software is going to be able to quite emulate that. Not everyone is going to wanna sit in front of a computer and make beats with virtual knobs and algorithms.

maybe earlier everyone liked wat u could affect a sound but i like it organik like ganj and wat can u do to natural sound's straight from vynil- a dumptruck. but i will alway's stay with a mpc, it's like a instrument version of a tape recorder and there is nothing to add to it. basically a mpc can better any other music but you cannot better music made by an mpc. how?

I 'discovered' Live about 1 week ago and all I can say is that it is incredible. I have been using Steinberg based sequencing since 1986 (nearly 20 years!), starting on the Pro16 and now CubaseSX. I am still deciding on whether to ditch Cubase or not..
Live is a totally different approach to sequencing with the main focus of audio and being able to interact/jam. Within minutes of using Live you will think to yourself: Hey, this is just like jamming on an MPC! (although massively more powerful and flexible). This is what has taken me by surprise, the fact that it does not feel like a sequencer (Cubase/Logic/Etc) but rather it feels like a instrument (a MPC for example).
Clearly there are loads of advantages for really MPCs so we don't need to discuss that. However, if ever there was some software written to aid genre's like Hip Hop, then it has to be Live (why DO you guys use Pro Tools!)
I really recommend that you at least watch a few of the tutorial videos and certainly "Making Music With Live"

In the middle of "Making Music With Live" see how he corrects the snare's position. Awesome!

Disco! wassup mate, I too am loving Ableton, its so simple to use and nice to manage, however it has bugs like mad and i'm still having to use Cubase SX for the mean time till ableton is more stable. But it wil not replace MPC.
[(current version 4.14) midi problems sync with mpc, jumps back 2 bars when trying to play from elsewhere other then from the beginning.]

its hard to explain, but its the approach the environment, the touch and feel of how u make the beat. my beats i make on pc will never be like the beats i make on MPC, staring at the screen clicking away does somethng to u, that makes u make beats different, not to mention the tools u are using on that screen. though with a mpc, ur fused different, u are left to be more creative cause the sounds have to be located so now u are more intuative to make sure u use the right ones..... agh its one of those deep ones....but as i said long time ago....its all depends on the persons way of thinking...how they deal with things in general, on hand or otherwise.

Hi Penfold
Ah, not good about the bugs. Im too new to Live to have discovered any. At the moment all I am doing is slowly going through the Tutorials with the Demo version before making a decision. I know a lot of people use Live with another package, Cubase in your case, but I really dont want to do this. I want to just use a single package so I can understand it totally (like I do with Cubase). Live is looking like a good option just because it appears to be so much faster then Cubase - everything seems simple and it interacts with my new BRC2000 incredibly (£83 from Turnkey btw)
btw, if you buy Live4 this month you get Live5 for free. Live5 will be £300 (I think) but Live4 is currently reduced in Turnkey to £240.
See you,

Yep, just re-read your reply and you are only using Cubase..
