Its aite man, I had the same damn problem! What you do is, you gotta buy a "Y" cable. Its a cable that has two 1/4" MONO plugs that converts to one 1/8 stereo plug. These can be found at Radio Shack or Guitar Center or whatever. Plug in the two 1/4 plugs into the back of the MPC into the left and right stereo outs, and then plug the 1/8 plug into the back of your computer into the line-in. Then try it out. Just tap on a few pad on the MPC and see if the sound comes out of your computer speakers. If so, then when you play your COOL EDIT, your beats on the MPC should be able to be recorded on it. If you have any more trouble, get at me! GOOD LUCK PEACE

Thanks fo the help tha worked, but i guess that raises another question for me what is the purpose of a usb midi interface if you can record through a line in on the sound card??

The purpose of having a USB MIDI Interface is so that you can send messages in MIDI to and from your PC. ie: a keyboard can send MIDI to your computer by playing some keys on the keyboard. What MIDI actually means is Musical Instrument Digital Interface. All it mainly does is send instructions to you PC. Its some wuite difficult ish, thats why I dont even bother with it LOL. Plus, I run everything through my MPC (i use it as a mixer also). But, if you wanna try MIDI out and give it a crack by all means EXPERIMENT, EXPERIMENT, EXPERIMENT, good luck to ya! Peace

MIDI is control data while line in is audio. No audio travels on MIDI cables.
