Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

If you create a program on a computer (I used MPCPGMMKR for Mac)
with all WAVE files.

Put it in the MPC, and edit it (using the mixer, etc...)

and then save it

Does the MPC2k XL convert the WAVE files to SND files?

I started with wave files and now I ended up with SND files (which I despise)... how did this happen?

If I'm right it happened because you (unknowingly) chose to save the pgm with snd's and not wav's . It asks you after you hit do it in the save screen, you just have to highlight the file type and use the data wheel to chnage it . But I think the mpc used .snd as the default so that's probably why .

Why do you despise SND files ? Just a simple question.

It's so much easier to work with WAVE or AIFF files. You can easily go between different samplers, and the computer. For some reason I always lose snd files.

You should not worry too much about your programs saving sounds as SND. the mpc loads 'em actually faster than wav files. and if you plan to transfer the sounds to another sampler you can laway save em again as wav files.

I don't despise them, it's not an SND has ever killed my puppy or anything
but that's my reason for sticking with wavs also.
