NEW 12-bit sampler from ELEKTRON (ESI) Japan

Hey there,

I just read about a new 12-bit sampler/filter drum machine coming out from Elecktron. Yes,
it's not an Emu SP-12, but it sure sounds like it when you listen to the demo. It's basically an
old school 12-bit sampling drum machine but with modern features: smart media card
storage, 44.1 khz file transfer, USB, etc. I'm super excited about it. I've been waiting for
some to figure out that hip hop kids love 12-bit. I hope it lives up to my expectations.....

It's just the Elektron machine drum that added a sample expansion that's 12 bit. Someone mentioned it in anohter section here. It's been pretty cool to see someone release a 12 bit sample option even. I hope it's really popular so more people think about releasing 12 bit instruments.

it will not sell well, and in 20 years it will be hifhly soufgt after. just speculation

it's still no Sp1200. Nothing sounds like an EMU machine....accept no imitations....I just thought I'd put this up to let people know that 12-bit sampling is still alive and well......

Man we've needed something like this for so long... I had always thought.. why dont someone make a modern 12bit machine with faster loads, better storage. etc

If you've used an SP, you know even the emu guys couldn't match it again if they tried.

While I agree with you elmacaco (Ive used three different sp1200's the shit is dope!), I couild swear Ive heard you say on more than one occasion that you have never used an sp1200 either.

No Beef, just an observation.

Once now, made a few beats on a 1200, got about half an hour on it, didn't get to sample, but got to watch my boy sample (oh the torture, No, that's now how you truncate, what the **** are you doing, oh the pain!!!!)and heard the difference, used a SP-12 Turbo for a total of about 12 hours over a couple of days, lots of fun, love the interface, that's what really does it for me, 8 sliders and the sound.

I also own and use Emu gear of that time and have conversed with people who worked for them back then. The SP's definitly have an edge on the emax.

But thanks for minding my business Tic. You want me to write you next week when I get more time on a 1200?

But that doesn't mean it couldn't be made better.....

sure, it could, but I have used a machine drum, it's cool in its own way, but you need to be much more technically minded to use it than you need to be to use an MPC or SP. I would bet most MPC users wouldnt' like the machine drum as much as the MPC.
