Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000
By hollaback8 Mon Jun 20, 2005 5:45 pm
I have a MPC 2000 and I am trying to sample in vinyl. My question is, after I sample the break, lets say there is a part I want to filter out and add my own part to the sound I am trying to filter out. How do I do this. I do not have the 8 output expander.

Example. I want to filter out a bass in a break of the sample and add my own Bass

Thanks

can you filter inside the XL> yes. Can you do what you asked (high pass filtering)? > no.

The XL's only built in filter is a LOWPASS filter. Meaning you can remove the highs and mids and leave only the bass. You can make a bassline out of anything that has a low end to it ( the Low End theory....).

But if its the Bass you want to remove, instead of keep...youd have to do that on other gear, or EQ the sample before it goes in the XL.

Edit: reread your post, you have nonXL 2000. I believe the 2000 has the same LowPass filter, so the same concepts would apply.
