My 2k xl had this function and I can't find it in the 1k.
This is extremely crucial for me, and I have a dead line to finish this particular remix. Your help is priceless.

Here is the scenario.

I'm using the MPC1k as the sound engine, and the pads to trigger the sounds. EXCEPT, in between I'm using Logic as the sequencer.

I need to "turn the PAD to internal sound" off.
I already set it to MIDI, and I'm able to trigger the MPC's sound from the computer, but now I need to shut off the connection between the pads and the internal sound (so that Logic is the medium in which they communicate).

After the searching the forums for similar scenarios, the previous solutions listed on here do not work (i.e., switching the PGM to off - which wont work because I need to use the PGM... and the other suggestion was to switch the seq track to MIDI, which doesnt work because the internal sounds are still triggered directly from the pads AND thru Logic... which causes a layering sound.. which I do not want)

I also could not find this in the manual.

Quick fix: You can try the opposite. While you play, turn the MIDI IN off. Then the pads play the sounds, and are recorded into Logic. When you want to play it back out of logic, turn MIDI IN on again.

I use this method, because I don't have the latency through MIDI -> PC -> MIDI -> MPC Sounds. Of course, this sucks for having Logic loop, while you also play. But, you did need a quick fix.

Someone else can chime in if they use the MPC in a "Local Control = Off" mode, like most keyboards have.

i have this feeling that u are still having samples being played where u dont want them to right?

if so add a pad with no sound to the a mute group and midi trigger that pad so it turn off the sounds u need to stop playing,

So the MPC1k does not have a way to disconnect the pads to the internal sounds, (while still leaving the MIDI connection on)... like the MPC2k (xl).

damn, what a major bummer.

That quick fix seems to work... but still... darn. It's an extra step, which previously did not exist. I'm starting to miss my 2k xl again...

We should add this to the list of "OS upgrade" wishes...

Why not remove your sample(s) in the "program" menu (pad7) or just turn the volume down in same menu!?

He's trying to send the pad's MIDI info through Logic, then back into the MPC (so turning down volume defeats the purpose). In essence, replacing the MPC's sequencer.

But if he ever needed to build on an existing loop in Logic, (ie- play from logic & record into logic at the same time), he'll hear double hits that come from MIDI & the Pads.

That defeats the purpose entirely.

JKsuperstar knows what I'm trying to do..
