keyboard help

i just recently bought a yamaha s03 for 200 bucks because i work at this pawn shop. now i have a mpc1000 and yamaha has sounds in it already so how can i connect it so that the sounds that the yamaha comes with can be played and i can go over the melody i play with drums from the mpc. i have the midi in on the mpc going to the midi out on the keyboard. everytime i press a key on the keyboard it just plays a beat from watever program i have it on on my mpc and when i put it on program off it plays some sounds that it has on program offf. and i cant erase no sounds from the program off profile. im just trying to play the sounds that come in the keyboard and go over it with drums. then the book talks about local off stuff or something. someone please help because i ready to jam. thanks.

Once again i could say read the manual, but i'm burnin some cds so I'll say this. Midi out from mpc to midi in on keyboard, and midi out on keyboard to midi in on mpc. start a new track turn prgm off, and midi on. So now when you record it will trigger the keynboard and record the information from your mpc. Be sure when u save the sequence you save the midi data w/ the sequence. This kind of a sloppy way of explaing..What u don't underatand jus look in the manual.
