Hi I'm new here, I just got a mpc1000 and have noticed that when I try to play a sample in 16 level tune mode, the sample is cut off when I press another pad before letting go of the previous pad, or if i'm holding one pad down (playing a sustained note), and tap another pad and let go, the previosly sustained pad sample stops (even though I'm still holding the first pad down).

Surprisingly, I couldn't find anything in the archived messages about this, so I'm wondering if this is a bug with my machine.

All the pads are set to POLY, and there are no mute groups set.

Also, if I record a melody onto a track with long notes (using 16 Level tuning), and then use a different track with the same program, and play some new notes using the 16 level (with the same pad), the new notes will cut off the long notes in the previously recorded track. Confusing enough ;)

These are 5-10 second samples of instruments/synths set to note on and aren't set to loop.

The problem doesn't happen when the samples are chromatically tuned individually to the separate pads of the program, or if the decay is set to start (but then you can't really sustain notes).

so if anyone know if that's something wack with my machine, or if it's a common bug, that I need to live with (like no track volume), i'd appreciate it.

I got the exact same problem man. Ive got the latest OS for the MPC too. It might be possible that, depending on what samples you are using the MPC is maxing out on the polyphonic voice it is capable of which is why the new sample you are trying to play is cutting out. This may not be the case however and it maybe is just a bug but just to let you know that it happens to me too bro.

Have you tried turning it from note on to one shot, and turning poly into mono. if i can remeber right I had s similiar problem, but it was because of this. Try it out and let me kow if this works.

wow, quick response!
i thought about trying it with one shots before hitting the sack last night... i have a feeling it wouldn't cut out as long as you had voices left in the polyphony, but then you'd get a bunch of long notes, which would be cool for certain purposes. I'll check it and do some messing with the attack and delay, and mebbe some looping notes to see if that changes anything with the cut off problem.

Kind of a drag, but whatever... It's still a wicked machine...
If only if only track volume could be adjusted without adjusting every pad.

Thanks for the responses, this forum is the shizit!

You might be better off assigning the sample to a few pads, and pitching them up and down for your melody...more control
