Has anyone installed the Akai EB 16 Sampleverb card?

If so how do u rate it and what 'affect' does this have on memory usage?

P.S. if you haven't checked out this link yet u need to:
http://www.stonesthrow.com/videos/madlib-redbull.ram

I was watching this interview with Madlib and I was inspired into maybe buying this card when I eventually get an MPC2Kxl

What is ur verdict???

i dont think it has any affect on memory at all. maybe i tad, but its the actual sounds that take the most memory

i love my eb16, id be a little lost without it seeing my beats are strictly mpc beats 99% or the time.

this is a dope video

Cheers! Its amazing; put the name MADLIB in a post and everyone views it!

Does anyone else have any opinions on the EB 16 based on experience?

they aint the best if you dont know how to freak em. Like the reverb sux. but the 4 band filter is good, and the distortion. Also the delay is good.

I think the hot sh*t is that you got all those effects right in the mpc, without having to turn on other gear.

I bought mine off of Ebay and installed it and it's cool. Easy to apply effects and you can apply multiple effects to one sound [which I'm sure you've already read]

if you try to use it like reeeevverrrrrrbbbbbb yeah it sucks

BUT, shorten the decay to zero, set the diffusion around 60, early ref between 30-50 and mix it in real quiet on high hats, also snares, rides, etc.... makes a drum fit into a mix AND gets it sounding real silky too. basically, use it as an ambience patch instead of mega huge church reverb (which is friggin corny anyway) and it is really really useful

so basically, NO the reverb does not suck if you use it the right way

I bought my MPC with the EB16 installed, I'd rather have it than NOT have it. I've done complete songs just on my 2kxl and I've used it heavily at times. If you tweak around with it enough you can get some good stuff out it, you just gotta talk to it the right way.
