MPC2000 Disaster! NEED HELP

Man oh man. I've been working with my MPC and Reason for the past two weeks and I've come up with like 20 songs. I've been using the MPC as my sequencer and the Reason as a module. SO I'll pull up my sounds on reason saved as an .rns file and the pull up the same sequence on the MPC2000 as a .mid file. boy oh boy, I finally turned off my MPC the other day after like two weeks just to give it a break. I thought everything was saved correctly. I bring a few songs back up today and nothing is saved correctly. Some of the songs are completely missing the drums I did on the MPC, Some have erratic sounds in them that I did not play. On some tracks the midi/drum setting, and the loop on/off setting wasn't saved. What did I do wrong? Should I be saving as SEQ files? some of the songs have like everything thrown on one track so for instance if you mute track one, the whole sequence is muted! should I have been using those .ALL files?

this is bad, anyone else ever have this problem? how can I prevent this in the future?

First of all.

1. ALWAYS LABEL YOUR TRACKS!! this way u can fix stuff
2. ALWAYS LABEL YOUR SEQUENCES
3. LABEL YOUR PROGRAMS
4. SAVE AS .ALL and .APS (AS WAV) KEEP to 8 CHARS
(save as SEQ and PGM ONLY if u wish to use those files on a mpc2000 or 1000)

Keep the same name of the .ALL file as the .APS and the same on reason.
and SAVE AS U GO ALONG! like when u do a real nice sequence and your like WOW thats sounds nice...thats the time to SAVE.

I always label sequences and programs, but I admit I might get a lil lazy on the tracks.

Penfold is spot on, ALWAYS save your .APS and .ALL.

I had a similar experience when i first started using my MPC.

And when you save them, make sure ALL the samples are saved in the .APS folder for that beat, they may need to be saved again if you have edited them.

Otherwise, you will save a perfect beat, then load a destructed beat.
